While freelancers are known to work alone, inspiration has to come from somewhere. Here is a list of great freelance resources for web developers to ignite inspiration, ideas, and enthusiasm.
Being a freelance web developer as well as working full-time for a college IT department, I have experienced the time stresses that freelancers undergo when getting a new project. For that reason, here is a list of some quick inspirational freelance web developer sites that I have come across.
While this list could have been enormous in size, I decided to keep it to the most pertinent sites that I look at on a regular basis. In no particular order…
Smashing Magazine
With various subjects such as graphics, inspiration, fonts, tutorials, tools, css and more, Smashing Magazine is a great resource for web developers and graphic designers. Checking in at least once a week is a must.
Design Melt Down
Tons of inspirational and topical web designs. Whether you’re looking for a certain color scheme, or website inspiration on a certain topic (food, political, e-commerce, etc) Design Melt Down should be one of your first stops for inspiration before starting a web design project.
Web Resources Depot
Ideas, templates, vector art, and a variety of other freely available things are available. Their search feature really helps to narrow down to the web solution you’re looking for.
Design Float
A variety of design resources submitted by designers and community members. Though Design Float is broad in nature (all design), they do seem to have a ton of web-related design content available. Good place to look at several times a week.
