Many people think that designing a website is a very tedious task. It is considered as a work that can only done by trained professionals who have a good work experience in the field of web design.

But what many of you do not know is that all this used to be true. It is not anymore. With the advent of web2.0 and many other latest technologies, it had been very simple for a common man with the basic computer and internet knowledge to create websites. Now-a-days it hardly takes an hour to design a new website.

I will not teach you how to do all this. But I will give you all the resources that you need for doing this. You can go to the links provided and follow the instructions to setup your own website.

I am going to show you on how to design a website with drupal CMS (content management system).

First you need a server software to check how your website is working before you publish it the web or to your server on the web.

You can get this at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

The software is named as xampp and is a cross platform server for apache, mysql, phpmyadmin and perl.

It is ok if you do not know what the above mentioned functionalities are.

Download and install the software and run the server.

Now go to http://www.drupal.org and download the latest version of drupal. Go to the directory where you installed xampp and inside that go to htdocs directory and create a directory on the name of your site.

Open the downloaded drupal file and extract all the files into the folder that you just created.

Open your browser and go to http://localhost/nameofyoursite

You can follow the on screen instructions to install drupal.

Guess what you have just created your own new site.

For getting the themes and other modules go to http://www.drupal.org and navigate in the site and download them.
