Here’s a roundup of some web tools you just can’t live without.

W3C Validator

The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) has two validators, one for HTML/XHTML, and one for CSS. You can copy and paste your code directly into them, upload a HTML file or link to a file you’ve already published.

W3Schools

Another W3C site that teaches would-be designers the basics of a whole range of languages from XHTML to XSLT. Is a good reference for those times when you get a little stuck.

Google Analytics

A great free tool to monitor traffic on your site or a client’s site. It is, in fact, better than many commercial options out there. Provides a multitude of analysis tools from visitor trends to geolocation, and even computer resolution.

Wordpress

A powerful free online Content Management System. You can host pages in your own web space or for free on Wordpress’ servers.

CSS Layout Generator

A free form-based tool to quickly and easily create CSS layouts for you websites.

.htaccess Tools

A .htaccess file is a text file that configures an Apache web server. This is a great collection of tools to automate the process of htaccess.

A large collection of royalty-free stock imagery for your websites. Free for non-profit websites.

Kuler

Easily picks modern colour schemes for you when your in need of an inspiration fix.

NicheBot

Excellent free SEO service to maximise your search engine visibility. Comes with keyword suggestion and analyisis tools.

What The Font!

Ever looked at a font and wanted it for your designs but just don’t know what its called? Just upload an image of the font here and it will give a list of possible matches. Also available as an app for the iPhone.
