What exactly is machinima?
A machinima is a movie or episode made using the graphics of a video game.
Machinima’s can feature stunts and game play but the most popular genres are comedy and drama. The term “machinima” came from Hugh Hancock when he launched the website machinima.com in January 2000. The term machinima is actually a misspelled contraction of machine cinema. The first machinima was created in October of 1996 by a gaming clan called the rangers. Ever since then machinima has become a popular way of entertainment. Today there are machinima contests sponsored by game companies like Jagex, Epic Games, and Xfire.
Machinima can be viewed on youtube. Just search Machinima and add the name of a game at the end if you want. ex. halo machinima, world of warcraft machinima.
