Many people, when they buy their first camcorder have visions dancing in their head of becoming the next YouTube sensation. They become frustrated after a few days when they check their stats and see that they have recieved a total of something like five hits. Back goes the camcorder in the box, as well as their dreams of online fame. One of the problems is video editing software. They see videos online with cool special effects and they figure that they can’t make the same quality of video because they can’t afford the “good” software.

Such isn’t always the case! There are a great many free versions of video editing software available that can be used to make great quality videos. The purpose of this article is to reveal the types and brands of free video software out there. All of the following free software is available with tutorials if you do a Google search for them. The first and most obvious video editing software to use is one that is probably one that is already on your Windows computer. That, of course is Window Movie Maker. Most PC’s already have it installed but if not it can be downloaded at the Microsoft website. This is probably the easiest route to go and it’s very simple to use. Another free and simple video editing software to use is t@b. T@b can be downloaded at zs4.net and tutorials can be found very easily on its website by checking the forums its users congregate.

Wax is a very good video editing software that started off as a college project and has grown to become a rich and full featured application. It can be downloaded at debugmode.com. Very good tutorials can be found at it’s website and with a little practice, you can be making great videos in no time with this software.

Finally, for people who don’t mind a more technical interface there’s Avid FreeDV. This is a very good video editing software that is kind of hard to use but powerful once you get it all figured out.. This software is available for download at Avid.com
