He was doing it for progress – in a way.
One video on YouTube brought around the realisation of how many videos from the past hundred or so years (Probably) have got this “YouTube Factor” about them.
Parachute Suit Man is one of these interesting videos from the early era of flight for mankind as a whole. We were young in what we knew, we young in our steps leading to today’s era…we were generally young in all areas of social, technological (my favourite), ethical (that’s gotten worse actually), religious (that’s weakened) and political structure (never in great shape). And on another note: ‘This isn’t about how we’ve evolved in structure in the multiple areas of the human condition’. What I’m here to talk about is how there was a man who thought it’d be clever to use a tailor made parachute suit and jump off the Eiffel Tower….he didn’t exactly fail….just the end result was more him plummeting to the ground without the parachute suit working; he succeeded in the jumping part while the landing safely on the ground may’ve been a tad off. There’s only one ways he could’ve been a “tad off” and that was dying from the fall.
But importantly he came from an era when humans were true risk takers. Doing the insane for the sake of progress or that might’ve been his reason, because if it did work he would’ve made a pretty penny. He failed but the point is that we were a run on ideas of progression rather than logic.
Haven’t ideas of fantastical progress always inspired the logical progression?
It’s like YouTube in way with someone trying an idea out and then hoping the idea might get him a few view. Tapping the surface of an idea before letting it progress logically!
I’ll be a bit disrespectful to the Parachute Suit Man on this little niggling of his idea: If YouTube existed back then (Along with the many required items to have a fully functional computer, router, wiring, decent electrical supply and a number of other items to do with the vast World Wide Web) he would’ve gotten a million views in a day (This video does have a million) for sure; like Susan “She’s just has a unconventional face!” Boyle….except it would’ve been worth a look in on how he was trying to help the humankind progress on an idea. Rather than an easy sell news story. The films completely silent so you could’ve placed the soundtrack of Jackass over it….actually I’m surprised Jackass hasn’t tried something like that….probably to “risky”.

Thought of the Day: August 7th:
I need about a week before I start writing without a problem. The first week is just me struggling to find the words to begin just one chapter that leads to me begging my hands to type and my mind to think the words I want. “To write is an annoyance but to know it is written is something nice”.
