Social networking sites are growing in popularity every day; there are many to choose from among them; Myspace, Facebook and Friends Reunited to name but a few. When I think about Friends Reunited in particular, I often wonder about the kind of person that decides to join up, in particular what they are hoping to find. Could it be to track down their first love who they have never quite got over, or are they cautiously peeping around the door to see how the class bully has turned out? Or maybe something a little more sinister lies in their hearts. Was it love, revenge or plain curiosity that prompted them to sign up?

There are probably as many different specific motives behind attacks upon information systems as there are attackers. Thus a basic understanding of them is essential if we are to have any hope of winning the cyber war games.

If you’ve been online recently, you’ve seen “lists” of websites with catchy titles popping up. They annoy me. This is my revenge.
