Twitter this, twitter that, twitter, twitter, please just stop!
First there was MySpace. Then there is Facebook. Now…there is Twitter.
Twitter is sparking a lot of confusion, both for young people and the baby-boomer generation. Twitter seems to be taking over. You hear about it whereever you go, almost inevitably. You hear about it when it comes to celebrity gossip, news, muscians, etc. Why is something so seemingly simple so popular?
Twitter basically seems to have robbed Facebook of a feature. Twitter’s whole basis is “status” updates and “following” people and their “tweets”. All of these terms can be extremely complicated to get a grasp on, and honestly, it is not worth it.
There have been claims in Twitter’s favor that it allows information to be easily obtained for those who are always in a rush. The brief information is favored by many people. Since most of us want to inform others of things going on, maybe this is why Twitter is so huge. The fact that the news programs are even using Twitter is a huge concept. Twitter is possibly bigger than MySpace and Facebook; perhaps more beneficial.
Twitter is probably useful for the sake of news and whatnot, but celebs using it is not that much of importance. Neither are your personal updates. Seriously, no one really cares about what you’re doing every minute of the day, unless you have a stalker you’re tooling with. Twitter should be avoided if that’s all people are going to do with it; keep that stuff on Facebook.
If this sort of idea appeals to you, getting your news and all other information quick and briefly, then you should give Twitter a look over. If it’s for you, then great, congrats! But if not, then steer away from it as much as you possibly can. Keep in mind though, with the Internet being as huge as it is and only getting larger and larger, escaping may not be a realistic dream.
