How did Triond’s founders come up with the name "Triond?"
Have you ever wondered where Triond got its name from? We know that “Squidoo” comes from “Squid” and some may have heard that “Bukisa” in Zulu means “Display.” One journal says that the Pasto word for “mushroom’ is “Xomba” though it looks more like it was “Zombie” that the writing site was getting at rather than the mushrooming of their success, since they even use the word “Xombies’ which means “ghosts.” Where did Triond’s management team get “Triond” from?
(1) Triund in India
Some sources quote Triond’s management team as saying that Triond was named after Triund, a beautiful place in India. See cybertruth’s article at http://writinghood.com/online-writing/an-interview-with-triond-creator-shahar-solamianik/. See also scenic shots of Triund here. Incidentally India is the country where Triond gets most of its traffic as Alexa attests at http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/triond.com#. It might be said that the founders of Triond could not have known that most of their traffic would come from India but then again Triond was formerly Writing4living.com and had writers before the advent of Triond as we know it. (See When Triond Was a Baby).
(2) Three
One possible meaning of “Triond” seems to have escaped many people. The first four letters of “Triond” is “TRIO.” It was three people who came together to create Triond – a TRIO. When you look at Triond’s management team at http://www.triond.com/info/the-team you see that the co-creators of Triond are Shahar Solomianik, Udi Oz and Oren Solomianik. (See photos below).

Perhaps Triond simply means “three” just like “trio”or like the “tri” in “tripod”, “triad” and “triangle.” In Christianity “Triune” refers to the three persons of the godhead being as one – “tri” as “three” and “une” as “one.”
In the final analysis, whatever the name “Triond’ means we hope that the site will excel in the not too distant future. It was not Solomianik but Solomon who said in Proverbs 22:1:
“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”
Those wanting to write online for a living may need both the good name and the riches.

Great article. Sometimes it is better to imagine, interpret, or speculate rather than knowing the truth.
