Twittering Celebrities Aren’t Always Who You Think They are

The chance that a twittering celebrity is typing messages on Twitter herself/himself, is very small. Just a few of them are real, but most of the time they hire “ghostwriters” to write messages for them.

Rapper 50 Cent is one out of many celebrities who joined Twitter recently, to share his thoughts with his fans. On the 1st of March, he twittered: “My ambition sends me through a never ending tunnel.” In reality, this is not coming straigth from 50 Cent’s keyboard, but from his manager’s one. Chris Romere typed that message. “50 Cent doesn’t use Twitter himself.” says Romero.

Microblogtool Twitter, that allows users to post anything ranging from thoughts to activities they’re doing at the moment, is getting extremely popular. And celebrities start to join too. It enables them to directly get in touch with their fans.

Many celebrities consider typing just one sentence themselves too much work. That is why more and more celebrities hire text writers to write messages, pretending to be that celebrity. These text writers are also known as ‘ghost writers’.

There was an advertisement on the web recently, by Britney Spears. She was searching a ghost writer to write messages for her Twitter-page. Rapper Kanye West said in an interview in newspaper ‘New York Times’ that he hires two ghost writers, to keep his blog up-to-date.

Not all celebrities hire them though. Some of them consider the use of ghost writers sad. Baskbetball player Shaquille O’Neal writes messages frequently to his 430.000 followers on Twitter. “If i type a message there, it’s coming straight from my keyboard. It’s a sentence of just 140 characters. That’s not much, really. If you need a ghost writer just for that, then I pity you.” he says.

I thought about joining twitter, but I wanted to post all of my articles, and I’m not allowed to do that–right?
