Twitter has been an essential part of my online communication with people and for receiving updates on news and bloggers that I follow. I have a Twitter app on my Firefox browser, I have Twitterdeck in case I need to do work off my browser, and I still submit updates on the web (also to marvel at my beautiful tile background).

It came to the point, however, where having all these apps weren’t enough–I had to be connected and updated even out of the house. That’s where Twitterfon came in handy–I browsed through apps on the iTunes store and found this nifty little app (very light download–just 0.3Mb) and was ecstatic when I saw that I could download it for free.

Aside from that fact that it’s free, here are some factors that make Twitterfon the best Twitter app around:

It automatically refreshes. Sending and receiving updates though Twitterfon is real convenient because of how it automatically refreshes everytime you turn on your iPhone.

It has a very simple timeline. Reading your friends’ updates is real easy too; Twitterfon lists down your friends’ updates in chronological order, and separates the unread ones by highlighting them with a shade of blue.

You can do easy linking. For updates that contain links, Twitterfon displays a blue button on the right side of the post for you to be able to open that link using Safari. Yes, it’s that easy! Just click on the blue button and the link opens in your browser.

It has filters. Twitterfon also separates you + your friends timeline from your replies by using tabs at the bottom part of the screen. Other tabs are also for your direct messages (displayed in thread style–with text bubbles and all) and favorite tweets.

You can easily retweet, reply and view profiles. Clicking on a friend’s post will take you to another page where you can view their profile and you are given options on whether you want to reply to their tweet, retweet their update or view their timeline.
