From graphic design to marketing, twitter has become a valuable asset when it comes to promoting your website or business.

Let me be frank, At first I thought twitter was a terrible idea. When I heard Senators and large corporations used twitter I was irritated. I thought a potentially great idea was flushed down the drain when it became just another way for famous or rich people to become more famous and rich. It wasn’t until I sat down with twitter, that I finally understood the marketing potential it held for regular people like you and me.
Suppose you own a website that you’re trying to promote online but you keep running into one irritating problem. You can’t legitimately tell anyone about your product or ideas without advertising money or running afoul of someone else’s terms of service. Even worse, most advertising is blocked by Ad blocking software or ignored all together and is in most cases, a serious waste of time and money. It’s time to tweet. Twitter helps you promote your site directly to those who are interested and all for free!
A few tips for twittering:
If you run and promote a website, don’t just tweet about what you’re selling. Tweet about all kinds of relevant content as well. For example, if you run a graphic design website, support your community by tweeting up coming conventions, contests, events or products you love.
Drum up business by tweeting when you have some freebies to give away too!
Use hashtags but only relevant and sparingly. Hashtags help people find other relevant content and is in many cases the way your content is found as well. But no one wants to see spam advertising for Viagra and Prozac when clicking on #Anime tags. It’s a very good way to have your account revoked.
