Too Tweet for Words

To Tweet or not to Tweet; that is the question.

I had a Twitter account and decided I needed a break from notoriety.
(Some become rich and famous. Some become poor but notorious. I am of the latter persuasion.)  My last two tweets were on August fourth. One read: “If you can’t handle it…don’t. Let someone else handle it. It was probably never intended for you to handle to begin with!”

I tend to walk what I talk.  At that point in time, I was longing for more privacy. I was going through an upheaval of change and decided purging my life of excess would be good. I had already lost thirty pounds. I simply continued on with other areas. I left facebook. I changed my hair color. I cut my hair. I left all “dating” sites. I spoke up more strongly (It’s called assertiveness.) in close relationships with others, bidding goodbye to someone I loved dearly, but who proved to be hurtful to relate to. (We all have such people in our lives.) I quit Twitter.

Apparently Twitter is the place where they always take you back. I had the misconception that was supposed to be called HOME. I had resigned. Today I re-signed in. Everything is the same as it was, as if nothing had ever happened. What is different is me. I updated my picture.

I have been Beth NoLastName for years now. Google that name. It’s me! Twitter allows me that right. Facebook does not. Facebook complains that the name has too many capital letters. If I use only one capital letter, it refuses me the right to use the name. Facebook is not a good place for the poor but notorious. I do have a legal last name. I only use it at the bank and library. Anyone who knows me well knows me as Beth NoLastName. There are some who call me Beth NoName, but they obviously only know of me, and don’t really know me personally.

Twitter allows me to be who I say I am, in 140 words or less. I am known in my area as a poet. 140 words or less is just fine by me.
