Basically, this is how I find the media and the bible portrays Myspace and the conflicting nature of it.
The world view communicated through the website I have chosen is
Myspace
–
provides users with a service that helps you to interact with people, it lets you meet new people, view their personal profiles and express your creativity in blogs. Over the years Myspace has grown to become the 6th most viewed or accessed page on the internet with over 230,000 new visitor’s everyday. Myspace has become it’s little own online country with over 154 million residents, Myspace is ruled by Tom a user friendly person that regularly updates users on Mypsace events, when users first create their account Tom automatically becomes one of their friends. Myspace has become an influential part of contemporary culture.
With the ability to post videos and music blogs people can be easily influenced by the cultural take of Myspace. The world looks at Myspace as a communication tool, with so many visitors on Myspace from all around the world it is easy to market their products on Myspace since there are so many users, and with the majority of users being teens it is easy for companies to market their product. The main object of Myspace is to make friends.
Spiritual Comparison
It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.”
And He said to them, “(A)When you pray, say: ‘[a]Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
“{Give us (B)each day our daily bread. 4′And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who (C)is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.’”
Then He said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, “Friend, lend me three loaves;
For a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him”;
And from inside he answers and says, “Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.”
“I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet (D)because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
“So I say to you, (E)ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
“For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
The view of the world communicated through the Gospel, reflecting Myspace is when you meet a friend, because he is your friend he will give you as much as you need no matter what the cost of the food is and no matter what time of day it is, a friend will always be there to help you out in your time of need, just because simply your friend. So if you go out and you become friendly with someone you must stay true to them because who ever asks’ shall receive no matter what but all in time because God is rewarding. The Gospels talk about friends as a person that can lend a helping hand in time of support and need, whenever you need someone a friend will always be there or whenever you ask for something you will receive not always at the exact same time but in time you will receive it in open arms, because that’s what friends are for.
Comparison of the Media and Biblical Worldview
The biblical view of the world shows that we can rely on the dependency of our friends at anytime of the day or night, whenever we need them our friends will come and help us out, because they haven’t lost their sense of being with one another, because back then the only way to communicate with one another person was in person. Now days we have lost the sense of the need to talk to someone by being with them, with Myspace we are able to e-mail, instant message or even comment on another persons profile on Myspace to let them know something or wait for them to come online so you can be able to talk to them instantly.
Myspace has made us loose our sense of being with one another and the simple text that they type on the screen is enough for us to reassured of their presence, but we don’t realize is who is behind the computer it might not always be our friend and with Myspace we are able to meet millions of new people everyday but anyone can simply type something on a screen to say that’s who they are but it’s probably not true and we as individuals loose our senses of security, the gospels and the bible itself doesn’t recommend us to put ourselves in danger and by using Myspace we are doing so because we don’t know who’s out there, who’s really behind the computer.
Conclusion
The conclusion that I have drawn from my media analysis is, that Myspace brings upon its user a loss of personal communication and with that loss of personal communication we gain a loss of privacy because we don’t know who were talking to. We really don’t know who is behind that other computer until we actually can see it for ourselves other wise we can’t prove it and for all we know we could be talking to some stranger that could be out to get us. The invention of Myspace brings people together better but know one knows who the people really are they could be anyone and they can be anywhere, wherever a computer is and we can’t find out by ourselves who each and every single person is, we just have to trust.
