What is Social Bookmarking? Bookmarking, sharing, and social networking are essentially the same. If you are a new user to Triond and wondering how to increase your income then this is a good quick printable guide to all the sites that you will need.
Social bookmarking is a way to attract more readers to your Web sites and therefore more income. Bookmarking / sharing is a method for taking your Web sites to a bigger audience. This way you get far more views than if you just published on Triond and let it be.

Ohhh…do I have to do any work!
It takes effort. You will need to join most of the Social Bookmarking / Networking sites to get your site some readers. Two sites, Ask and Faves ( BlueDot ) need no joining and will yield the fastest results. You can simply put your sites up ready to be viewed without a password or an account.
Pre-existing accounts
If you have a Google, Hotmail, AOL, OpenID or Yahoo accounts then some use the same password. This cuts out having to join any others.
One size fits all
If you wish, sign up for the rest of the Social Network Sites but it is suggested that you use one user name and one password, otherwise you will forget how to sign in to each share site.
Here is a list of the Social Network / Bookmark / Sharing Web sites and a brief idea about each one:
Ask
An easy to use search engine requiring no passwords or sign up. Recommended.
Backflip
Requires a user name and password to bookmark your Triond site. Not easy to use.
BallHype
Requires a sign up. Another password and another account. Ho Hum
Bebo
Similar social networking site to Facebook etc. Requires log in – difficult.
Blinklist
Must sign in to get your Triond site noticed – complex.
Blogmark
Sign up and sign in – tedious.
Delicious
Not suggested as it requires joining to get your Triond Site bookmarked
Digg
Must join this site – easy to use – wonderful layout and a great way for your Triond Web site to be noticed. Recommended.
Diigo
You can sign into this site with your Google ID and Yahoo ID but requires installation of a diigolet? Not good for public computers like the Internet cafe.
This is popular amongst the teen crew, requires a log in, profile and is open to summons ( a legal firm recently sent one for a couple who broke the law ) Risky; but popular.
Fark
Need an account but a good site for articles with a newsy bent. Good site for hot topics about current events with a critique, “Interesting, cool, weird etc.” Fairly good.
Faves ( Bluedot )
This one is magic – simply submit the link and it gets published straight away. Creates also an instant profile but don’t submit your email address as it’s not kept private. No joining needed. Highly recommended.
Favourites
Not a social bookmarking site at all – just the favourites button on your machine. It could work in public computers if you add your Web site to a computer in the Internet Cafe. A function not a social network site.
FeedMeLinks
Requires registration – not recommended.
FriendFeed
You have to join this if you don’t have a Google / Facebook account. It attempts to link several sites together. Another registration etc, etc. Not usable.
Furl
Membership necessary – okay if you have the time. Not easy to use.
Google Bookmarks
As Google is a most powerful site it is suggested that you join. Suggested.
Kaboodle
Another join, another registration and another password also used by regulars in Triond. Okay.
LinkAGoGo
Cute name but needs sign up.
This is a professional career site which has little to do with Triond’s typical audience. I use this for work. Use if your articles are about career building only.
Live
This is a great site if you have Hotmail. It has just been updated. Highly recommended for Hotmail users and is in need of content. Powerful.
Magnolia
Another social bookmarking site requiring that you sign up.
MisterWong
One of my sites had already been saved by other members. You need to join – same as the rest.
Mixx
It tells you that you can log-in with a Yahoo! account but you do need to join Mixx. Hard to use.
Multiply
Join to use. Easy format.
myAOL
America Online – their site for networking. Use with existing account or join.
MySpace
Popular site but non-intuitive. Good if you can work it out.
Netvouz
Another site that wants you to join to get your Web sites noticed.
Newsvine
Targeted to New conscious readers and yes, you must join.
Propeller
You can use this if you have an OpenID or AOL account. You have to join it.
Join.
Segnalo
Spanish social network – good to see another language social site.
Simpy
Join this or use your OpenID.
Slashdot
If your articles are about computers this is a good site. You must join it.
Spurl
Needs another password.
StumbleUpon
What can you say? Popular but difficult to comprehend. High traffic. You cannot use this in an Internet cafe as you are required to download their silly toolbar. It is popular with home computer users but extremely hard to fathom.
Tailrank
In the process of upgrading their data bank.
Technorati
For computer tech-heads. Target audience for computer or technical audience.
Both Triond and Bukisa are linking this in through your Triond account so it is worth joining.
Yahoo Buzz, Bookmarks and My Web
If you have a Yahoo account these are gems – one log in for all. Highly suggested.
Yardbarker
This is great for articles about sports and games. Need password and an account.
There are few more but these are the sites recommended in the Content section of Triond. There are more if you share your site from the pages themselves.
Recommendations
- Ask and Faves ( BlueDot ) for fast results as you don’t need to join.
- Google, Live and Yahoo highly recommended as you can use your pre-existing accounts.
- Digg – highly recommended as it is simple to use.
- Twitter – already linked in to Triond and Bukisa accounts.
- StumbleUpon – use if you feel it is necessary but is complicated.
Target your sharing
Share or bookmark your Triond sites to a specific audience. You are wasting your time if you send poetry to Technorati or recipes to Yardbarker. If you study the Social Networking Sites you will discover just the right audience for your work. This will give you a much better chance of getting the right people who are interested in your work.
As the experts of Triond will tell you time and again – it really comes down to writing great articles ( more chance of viewers ) stunning images and kind comments,
Go For It!

Excellent compilation. Thanks! Social Web networking sites are a bore to me! I did check out faves but couldn’t find the simple way to upload content. I also looked at Google bookmarks but don’t see the point…who would look at my bookmarks? Maybe I’m out of touch. I’ve joined SU and Digg and a couple others but don’t have the time to really work them, so they are not beneficial.

Very extensive, nice job! A few of these I have not tried. MIXX I am using, and get quite a few Triond-users’ submissions here daily. I visit them all!
I get some residual traffic from CARE2, but be noted that readers there are very ‘green, earth-friendly’ people so, your content should be along those lines. No ‘ox-roast/family picnic’ stories, please.
Case in point; a ricotta-stuffed shells and hamburger recipe I was having good traffic with in all venues I had submitted to CARE2 and while I did receive a few dozen ‘hits’ from them, nearly every one in private or post, more-or-less chastised that ‘cows are friends, not food’ so there is the vegetarian/VEGAN aspect with that niche. ;- But, respected. And noted. Some of my biggest proponents, fans & friends here at Triond don’t eat meat either. So, we avoid that topic.
Nice article.

You have a very long list here J but I don’t have enough time to market my works to all those sites. For now I’m a newbie at Digg and SU. But all these will really come handy anytime soon. Thanks for providing the site names.

You highly recommend Ask and Faves, but I could not find the way to submit to these sites. I spent a lot of time looking but couldn’t find the Submit page. Also, your link to Ask doesn’t go to that site. Thanks for all the information. I didn’t know about some of these sites. The main thing about these sites is you have to join them and build up a network of friends for them to be effective as a way of promoting your Triond articles. That takes time, and so it’s better to pick a handful of sites and concentrate on them. I use Twitter, Digg, and StumbleUpon. I just don’t have time to spend on all the other social bookmarking sites out there. Thanks again for the article.

I didn’t even realize we were allowed to pimp our writings! Hehe. Thanks… maybe I will finally make more than 20 cents on here.
