Stumble or Not Stumble?

Social Networks

If you use StumbleUpon to submit your own article, consider the following points to get better result.

Our job as writers is not done once the article is published. We still have a long list to do to get the word out on social bookmarking sites. StumbleUpon seems to be many writers’ favorite! The traffic you received for your article depends on a great deal of different aspects.

What Are They?

  • The length of time you are a member of SU
  • Who your friends are
  • Who stumbles it
  • How many thumbs up
  • How many reviews
  • The correct category when submit to SU

Why Are So Many Users Banned?

  • Submit your own articles
  • Support only your own friends
  • Not showing a variety of different sites. (Yes, Triond has many different sites, but they are all linked back to the motherboard!)
  • Use SU for promoting your own, and not actually enjoy the community or sharing world wide information with others
  • Sending links of your own article submission to friends on SU, but never bother to stumble theirs

What Can You Do to Avoid Getting Banned, and Increase Views?

  • Check out the people you’ve added as friend, not your Triond’s circle, stumble their favorites
  • Stop sending links of your own work to SU friends. Do you know that when you do this, you do not get as much traffic?
  • Let your article sits for a day or so, and allow a total stranger to pick it up. When this happens, your traffic is much higher.
  • Occasionally, discover other internet giant sites such as Yahoo, MSN, National Geographic, or LiveScience according to your interest.
  • SU has a spam patrol team. (I was told my account looked like spam by one of them, so I decided to delete it.) They do catch up to you!

What We Can Do to Help Each Other as Writers

  • Stumble your friends’ work if you really like it, and if it’s fitted in with SU community
  • Just stumble or review or submit it as strangers, no need to add as friend on SU
  • No one needs to know who is who. It is more effective this way!
  • Be selfless and consider it as an act of kindness
  • Help others to help yourself. If everyone does this, it can be a win/win situation.

A Collection of StumbleUpon Articles

Let’s try this out to avoid getting banned from SU. Just be a part of this wonderful community to reap the fruit of your labor.

BC, great tips. My trouble is that I only knew one friend on SU when I signed up, and making new ones is difficult and time consuming. I can’t imagine I’ll ever have anyone stumble upon one of my articles…
