How to Get More Twitter Followers

There are many sites that claim to get you thousands of twitter followers in minutes but I haven’t tried those. I can’t get myself to read through all the hype-sales pitch type blurb that comes before you get the followers from these sites. But I do want to increase my Twitter followers as I use twitter to get people to read my articles on Triond, Associated Content, Bukisa and Factoidz. I also did not join twitter “socially” so there were no real friends to add to my followers, I was simply looking for potential readers for my articles. This is just a little tip about how I got more Twitter followers and how  you can increase your Twitter followers too.

First open a Twitter account.

Next go to the “Find Friends” tab on your Twitter page, and in the space where you should be writing a friend’s name write an area of interest. For example I write about travel, parenting, Israel and Judaism. So I searched these words on the “Find Friends” Twitter page. This brought me a list of Twitters with my keywords in their names. Then you click on follow to follow these Twitters.

Normally Twitters will return the favor and follow you in return. You will get an e-mail informing you that they are following you. At this point it is a good idea to send them a private message thanking them for the follow and giving them a link to one of your articles or your blog/web site.

Once I had done this several times I was running out of key interest words to search, and then I discovered another way to find new followers.

 Go onto the home page of one of your followers and click on “view all” of their followers. This opens up a new list of potential followers for you, as if you had one mutual Twitter follower you probably will have mutual interests. Then click to follow some of these Twitters.

For example, if I write about Unique Travel Experiences, I search in “Find Friends” the word travel and find EuropeTravel. I follow EuropeTravel. Then I get an e-mail telling me that EuropeTravel starts following me and I can go toEuropeTravel’s home page. I click on EuropeTravel’s followers and there I findTravelUSA. So I click to follow TravelUSA. Pretty soon I get an e-mail that TravelUSA is now following me. 

I have done an experiment to see whether Twitter really drives traffic to articles I have written, and I found that it does, so increasing your number of Twitter followers is important and it will increase your number of article views or hits on your web site.
