How is It Okay to Put Naked Baby Pictures on Facebook!?

Social Networks

People are constantantly uploading their naked baby pictures to facebook – Now facebook OWNS them.

It astounds me how many pictures of naked babies and practically naked children I see on facebook. I know their parents think it is cute but it doesn’t belong on facebook – once you upload that picture it is now owned by facebook. Faceook’s privacy policy states:

For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License).

Now a large conglomerate with who knows what kind of employees own these ‘cute’ pictures.

Now I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with these pictures if you want to share them with family or friends but don’t post them on the internet for every sam, dick and sally to see – who knows what kind of perverts are out there.

And you’re thinking facebook has privacy terms only people I know can see them. How many of us have acquaintances and people we barely know on facebook. I find it hard to believe you have 498 close friends and family members. Not to mention if you post these pictures as profile pictures which is often the case anyone can see them.

My daughter is probably one of the few babies who’s pictures have never graced facebook. I have hundreds of pictures but I send them to my family/friends through the mail (yes mail – who has physical copies of pictures anymore?) or their personal e-mail.

Well I’m done ranting so please just consider the pictures you post on facebook it is not much different them posting them all over the internet. (Okay now I’m done.)
