Social Networks

Surprised at a social media browser that does not receive enough exposure?

Flock is something to flock to if you enjoy the social web. Powered by Mozilla, I was quite shocked I had not seen many reviews spoken about this social web browser on any technological sites. I am constantly hearing about Firefox, which I use, and Internet Explorer, which I also use, but never heard about this social web browser. Now it is a crucial part of my browser experience.

One of the most unique features of this browser is the capabilities it has with your social web outlets. The features are outstanding. When I signed into my Digg account, as you can see in the photograph below, my personal friend and fan list came up on the left hand side. When I clicked on “my diggs”, resting at the top of the page was my articles shown in little picture formats like a video. I was startled, surprised and so delighted to see my articles viewed in this manner. Notice Digg is on the left, this occurs with the facebook as well.

The button you should be led to next is called my world, which is a little world icon resting at the top of your browser. As you can see from the picture below, you can add your feeds, your favorites, and all your favorite media. They call the sections widgets, and have four available. Twitter would be the other widget that is available in the “my world” section. I would love to see further widgets available in the future.

When you first download the browser, a section comes up called start up. A list of different social networks is seen on the page. Digg, Facebook, My Space, and you can add your blog from Wordpress or blogger.  They also carry a section for videos and pictures.

When you click on the little feather icon at the top, you can place a blog article directly to your blog from the browser, as you see in picture below.

Flock can also be reached on Facebook and Twitter. Since my experience on Twitter spoken about in another article, I plan on contacting them on my Facebook account instead.

I am only learning this new browser, and will write further articles to explain deeper into each feature I locate, and what extensions to use with it to give it further power. I thought by sharing the learning process in individual articles, could make it a trip for more then I to take. A journey I could share of a social web browser with friends and readers that we could learn together.

To learn about the social media stream button please see my other article by clicking here.

Get flocking folks!

Flock is a wonderful browser, that I also use from time to time; however I highly recommend that of Firefox Flock was designed for a small, but growing percentage of users; those who are savvy social media. However, it utilizes some Firefox similarities (or rather many I should say).

Good luck with your Flock experience. I’m a bit surprised that you are writing for the technology aspect of Triond and you have never heard of Flock; there are almost 2 million unique searches just on this browser along. Alas, I suppose you were busy; we all are at times to look up new software.

    Good luck again with it.

actually I have a family and focus on green awareness and greener technology most of the time, and never saw this browser discussed on top sites such as Tech crunch, they are sucked into the whole of firefox, chrome and microsoft is all I can see on those high tech sites, REPEATEDLY, it is like flogging a dead horse after a period of time

and I also do admin and banner ads, and I am in the process of researching colleges and universities for Accounting, my aunt runs an accounting freelancing business, and is always complaining, and I figure I have experience doing our own taxes and expenses that it would not be that difficult, I have already used a version of quick books

I do not limit myself to only writing, and I rarely pay attention to constant news on facebook, twitter, firefox, IE, or chrome, it gets to the point you are reading the same stuff, people like to read other things too, it does not mean I will not read it, but prefer a variety of reading literature about online tools, those little guys need some of the spot light before twitter and facebook get all the money, I mean those little guys need to support their families too..

and I receive many views, many, because I write about unique items or unique articles, you will find a group of rebels too who feel the same as me that certain people steal the spotlight, then the little guy gets left in the dust and not be able to pay the bills

besides flock needs some web dev people in that browser, i mean four extentions? because people are making more extentions for the firefox, so that is another reason I wrote about it, web developers should climb aboard and make some worthy extentions, it needs a zoom tool, it needs a web dev tool kit like firefox, it needs a few more as far as I am concerned, and stumble upon needs to be added to the list too

I like the fact I can use my blog with that browser to be honest

and I would not be too surprised about me writing for technology on this site, they know I am a green tech writer from a newsite that receives about 600 thousand viewers, I am sure they are pleased with what I have put into this company, I am receiving views, and they are receiving money from the views. and I just received my notice from technorati yesterday for my user name, and another site is a possibility coming up, that is site is very different although a popular site, but I am keeping that one shhh, until they publish it
