So the rumor spreads. Facebook is about to launch a slim version of the popular service. This happens the day after the purchase of Friend Feed. Facebook invested earlier 50 million dollars in that purchase.
At the moment it’s only available as Beta-testing, and there’s only a few selected users that have been chosen as beta testers of the new Facebook Lite. At present, there is no information on when the service will be available to more users. So the rest of the Facebook users will have to wait until it’s finished or at least released as a more stable beta.

So whats the changes in this lighter version then? Facebook Lite is according to media roughly explained as a Twitter like version of Facebook where only the most basic functions are available. It is not thought to be a real competitor to Twitter though.
The blog Techchrunch reports that Facebook accidentally unrolled Facebook Lite to many users simultaneously. Therefore Facebook Lite is now mainly tested in countries where Facebook has not as many users.
