Social Networks

Facebook Has been banned in Pakistan due to an offensive event created. Ban Currently till 31st March but can extend depending on the situations. Protests and riots all over Pakistan to ban Facebook for ever.

Many of the citizens in Pakistan have been wondering why they can not access the famous social network called “Facebook” this is because the Pakistani Government has blocked it due to the creation of an offensive event. Protests are being held all over Pakistan demanding that Facebook apologizes and deletes this event Facebook will be banned for ever.

A couple of days ago a Facebook user declared 20th May 2010 as “Draw Muhammad Day”. Muslims all over the world were furious because of this. Groups were made all over Facebook from Muslim users around the world because of this Justice Sajjad Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday, May 19 ordered the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to block Facebook.

As Facebook can not be accessed all over Pakistan Facebook Has been facing a lot of loss. Two days of no usage from Pakistan resulted in a 2 Billion Euro loss and if Facebook not used till 31st May it will result in a total of 40 Billion Euro’s.

Protests and riots are taking place in all over Pakistan which are demanding for Facebook to appolgize or Facebook shall be banned for ever. On 20th May artist (Devilish artists) have uploaded the pictures on to the event. Muslims are furious!

A similar incident took place in 2006 when a Swedish cartoonist, Lars Vilks, whose controversial cartoons on Prophet Mohammed were published. Muslims became so furious at that time, that they did violent protests against depiction of the Prophet and continual attacks and terror plots targeted at Lars Vilks. This tells us how furious Muslims are if someone points their finger at Islam

My Opinion

I Think that what ever the Pakistani Government is doing they are doing correct. Facebook should be punished and should be banned for ever if they do not apologize to Muslims around the world. If they do not do this then Facebook should watch out for them selves as Muslims anger is intense and is growing rapidly, they will face heavy losses and more. Facebook should say sorry to Pakistan and Muslims around the world.

I think people are way too sensitive when it comes to satire. There are lots of things on facebook that someone could find offensive but to ban it totally? While I do disagree with your opinion, I did find you reasons for the ban very understandable and your article was well written.

I will disagree too because Islam teaches peace, tolerance and patience not anger. You can’t resolve issues by getting angry. There are so many other sites, which are highly against the teachings of Islam having a very bad effect on our youth. Government should put a ban on those sites.

Actually what i think is that they are doing right because those sites are doing wrong but they are not that well known and they are not exposing this so openly while what facebook did was declare it openly and when Muslims were protesting against it peacefully no one listened so the govt had to take this step. And we still are protesting peacefully.

    Boycott Facebook forever
We are inviting Muslim from all over the world to come and join Peace full Protest against the Blasphemous competition on facebook. We are offering the Muslim to boycott facebook forever not only for 03 days in just few days their losses reached to billions. Don’t worry about the Salary Inshah Allah you will rewarded in the AAKHEERA.
    Jazakallah
