Social networking is growing on Internet like anything.
First time I heard about social networking website Orkut I never thought that I will be addicted to online chatting and dating communities and groups.
Last year I had created Orkut account still not knowing how to add friends or modify your profile to make it more attractive. But as time went I became more comfortable and learnt many new tips and tricks about Orkut. While I am writing this I have already deleted my Orkut account with a fear that If I keep on doing what I was then a time will come when I will be spending half of my day on social networking. To progress in life one has to make sacrifice and I had to sacrifice my account as I got too much attached to scrapping friends changing my profile photos and titles everyday as well as adding new friends became a prestige.
To delete my account was not so easy but after going through some blogs and articles on how to delete your Orkut account or Why to delete your Orkut account I made up my mind.
But I will be pleased to note few things about Orkut here.
You can crop your photo from original size to size you want for your profile.
If you update your profile by any means it will be displayed in your friend’s profiles. You can also disable this feature but then you will not be able to see any updates from your friends.
Visitors of your profile are displayed regularly. This can be disabled too.
You can join many communities on Orkut of your choice and can also create communities.
You can add You Tube videos to your profile like photos and also add some links.
You can play games online with thousands of users doing the same like playing cards, casino etc.
To search for any person you can either search by his name, city, and mail address, colleges etc.
A typical search may look like for e.g. female Australia angelica.
You can also add your orkut friends to gmail account and also export your contacts list to .CSV file.
There are many features embedded in Orkut. But deleting anyone from your profile is now like a crime- an offense.
There are lots of drawbacks too about using these sites but I know that I was able to connect to my childhood friends again after 12 years through Orkut.

With many social networking sites still to come it has provided platform for business, advertising, friendship, dating and even marriage.
