I would like to apologize for my previous article “So What’s the Big Deal With Twitter?” I’m woman enough to admit I’m wrong.
In my previous article, I did a good bit of bashing on Twitter. I’m woman enough to admit that I was wrong about it. Even though Twitter is limited in its uses in many ways, it is still rather addicting.
I can see why there are so many people living in Twitter-ville. Those 140 characters let you connect with friends, share thoughts with celebrities that you would never be able to talk to in the real world, and support many causes. It is also very addicting. I bookmarked my Twitter page, and I find myself clicking on it several times throughout the day.
Connecting With Friends
Unlike Facebook, with Twitter I don’t have to browse through fifteen quiz results to see if my friends actually said anything about their day. It’s right there. The RT (Re-Tweets) can get pretty annoying at times, but with only 140 characters, there isn’t much to skim through.
You can write whatever you want. As much as you want. I just write what I am doing or sometimes I randomly say something out of the blue that make no sense whatsoever. Does it matter? No. There are millions of other people doing the same thing. One of my tweets was “Why can I never seem to finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold?” See what I mean? Random.
Your friends are able to reply to you as well. The reply will have your Twitter username in it. This is how mine would look: @sarahsullins. You can also directly message your friends. To “follow” your friends and receive their messages on your page, just go to their page and click “follow.”
Sharing Thoughts With Celebs
As an avid Charmed fan, I, of course, am following Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan. It is really fun to be able to read their random thoughts and be able to reply to them. It is even more fun when they reply back. These two celebs are very nice about replying to their fans messages (and they get a ton everyday).
Reading what is going on in their lives is just as fun as looking at one of those magazines at the grocery store, only when they say something, you can know that it’s true.
I still haven’t figured out the whole Starbucks craze. I guess many of them don’t have time to make a pot of Folgers coffee at home?
Supporting Good Causes
Another great thing about following certain celebrities is that they can lead you in the right direction when it comes to supporting good causes. @Alyssa_Milano Re-Tweeted a post one day about a group called Alex’s Lemonade Stand that was fighting childhood cancer. The car company, Volvo, had promised to donate $25,000 to childhood cancer research if the group could get 25,000 followers on Twitter. I am proud to say that they reached their goal and Volvo did donate the money. If you have any interest in learning more about this group, I might suggest following them on Twitter: @AlexsLemonade or visiting their website at AlexsLemonade.org.
As you can see, Twitter has grown on me. I hope that you have a chance to check it out if you haven’t already. Don’t forget to stop by and say hello to me @sarahsullins.

I wasn’t really addicted with Twitter since my friends didn’t really use Twitter.

I spend probably 3-4 hours a day just reading people’s twitter accounts. I don’t feel like I’m addicted, but now that I write that out, I have a PROBLEM !!
