When I first signed up on myspace I selected a background for my profile from something called the profile editor. Then they came out with this new 2.0 version which I don’t like. Recently I decided I wanted to change my background but the profile editor was gone. I started doing searches and all I could find was that you need to enter a code in the “about me” section. I did that and nothing happened and then I see comments saying you have to delete your old code first, but there was no code. I started getting ticked off cause I sent myspace a message and they said switch to 2.0 but I don’t want 2.0. I was about to give up when I found this simple trick. It seems to me Tom or whoever the heck he is should have posted this everywhere for all the people who want to know. All you have to do is go to your profile page and next to the URL in the address bar put in the simple code below and hit enter. The profile editor will come up, go to bottom of editor and click start over. Now when you put in a code in your about me section it should work. I hope you didn’t have as much trouble finding it as I did. Please refer to comments section below under the comment titled “here it is” you will find it there, use instructions above and your problem should be solved.
Now you have to be on 1.0 for this to work.
If you are on 2.0 its not hard to switch back to 1.0. There is a catch you have to be in that 90 day period to be allowed to switch back to 1.0, at least that’s what I heard. FROM WHAT I FOUND ON A FORUM ON YAHOO IF YOU GO PAST THE 90 DAY MARK ONE PERSON SAYS YOU CAN STILL GO BACK BUT YOU WILL HAVE LOST ALL YOUR INFO THAT YOU ORIGINALLY HAD WHICH I DON’T THINK MOST PEOPLE WOULD MIND IF THEY COULD JUST GO BACK. NOW THEN WHEN IT COMES TO NEW ACCOUNTS SOMEONE HAD A TEST ACCOUNT POSTED ON THE FORUM SO IT APPEARS FROM THAT NEW ACCOUNTS START OUT ON 2.0 AND THERE IS NO WAY TO SWITCH TO 1.0 BECAUSE YOU NEVER ORIGINALLY HAD IT. DOESN’T SEEM FAIR BUT THAT APPEARS TO BE THE WAY IT IS.
IF YOU HAVE MET SOMEONE ON MYSPACE ANOTHER SOCIAL WEBSITE OR IN PERSON I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GO TO THIS LINK http://people-u-know.com/tissa.htm AND DO A PEOPLE SEARCH ON THEM CHECK THEIR BACKGROUND VERY SOON. THIS IS NOT RUDE AND IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU DON’T TRUST THEM BUT THEY ARE A STRANGER PLAIN AND SIMPLE A STRANGER, PUT THIS SITE IN YOUR FAVORITES LIKE I DID, YOUR HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND AWARENESS IS THE BEST TOOL TO PREVENT SOMETHING FROM GOING WRONG.

i just found out how to do it! i dont know how i did, but i did. the entering &pe=1 didnt work for me, so this is what i did.
ok, so what you do, for 1.0, is you go to the edit my profile or whatever. itll say page cannot be displayed.
then, go to the url in the address bar it should read: profileedit.myspace.com/yourmyspacelinkhere&pe=1
DELTE THE ‘PROFILEEDIT.’ and then click go. it should load on the side. i guess, if manually inserting &pe=1 doesnt work, do this it worked for me.
whats the code?
i WOULD ALSO LIKE TO GO BACK TO MY ORIGINAL VERSION OF MY PROFILE BUT WHAT IS “ADDRESS BAR” MEAN?
NOOOOO!!!!
TT_____TT
i made a new account because……i was bored
and now..I CAN’T GET A 1.0 PROFILE BACK!!!
i GREATLY DISLIKE the 2.0….i want to change soo badly!!
is there still a way to change it??
I THINK THERE IS A WAY TO CHANGE IT BACK YOU JUST NEED TO SIT BACK AND RELAX AND SEE IF YOU CAN EACH DAY AND JUST TRY.(:
THANK YOU CASEY!!! got my old page style back from your link!!! thanks thanks thanks, can\’t wait to show my lil brother, he hates 2.0 as well, and has been trying to change back for a while now. I am so happy you put this up , thank you so much
You may have heard the old saying “Stick with what works” I have noticed there is more than one way to get this done my article has not worked for some but I noticed more than one person having luck doing what Casey said to do. Look for comment dated June 27th by Casey and then there is Kray dated June 21th maybe try this one. I know there is more I hope you find what works for you. THANKS GUYS!!!
i tried to do it but it dosent come out i need help
i dont know what you mean of having it on 1.0 if u cant go back
and i dont know where to put the code u said
??at the addres bar??
dont get it
Hey,
I am on 1.0 but putting in the code is directing me to a page that says, Page cannot be found. any help?
WTF?! I CANT FIND THE LINK ON HERE?
WHO EVER WANTS TO MESSAGE THE CODE TO ME CLICK HERE
myspace.com/elizabethbala
my friend nneds the 1.0 back and im doing this for her birthday
The code is &pe=1……… this is to get you to a window that will let you set your profile back to default like it was when you first signed up you have to do this before copying and pasting a profile code in your about me section then you can go get a design you like for the background of your profile. If you are on 2.0 then getting backgrounds is different. This code only concerns the profile. I wish I had a trick that would let people go back to 1.0 but this is not it. The address bar is all the way at the top http will be all the way to the left of the bar click on it once, it will turn blue click on it again and arrow all the way to the right this is where the code goes thanks
Okay i tried this code, and it will not work. But tell me this- It says that if i signed up for myspace AFTER april. it will not let me go back to version 1.0 is this why it wont work?

Hi,
I really like my profile the way it is and I want to keep profile 1.0. But now when I go in to profile editor 1.0, it won’t load. It says I either have javascript turned off or need the latest version of flash player. I have both of these things fixed, so why wont profile editor 1.0 load? I just want to change the photo on my background, and if I can get into the profile editor I can do that without a problem. I have already searched online and have run out of places to look.
Thanks for your help,

Hello,
I am using 1.0, as I stated in the first message. I can get through to step 3. But when I get to the place where the theme library should be (step 4), there is only a message that says “you either have javascript turned off or need the latest version of flash player.” I have corrected both of these problems (I have javascript turned on and I have the latest version of flash), so it would appear that the theme library in 1.0 is not working properly. I have asked around other places online and it seems like many other people have come to this same conclusion. I have also tried this on multiple computers in multiple browsers (Safari, Firefox, and IE).
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly; hopefully the theme library in 1.0 can be fixed.

—I got this message last night. So the verdict is: if you signed up for myspace after April 2009 you are stuck with 2.0. If you had 1.0 and switched to 2.0 within the last 90 days, you can still go back. If 90 days have passed you are stuck with 2.0.
If you are using 1.0 and want to customize (as opposed to edit) your profile–edit the style of text, edit your background, the theme library is no longer an option. You have to use HTML code entered through the “About me” section. You find this code online by searching for free myspace background codes. BUT! So far I have not been able to get this to work.
For now I am stuck with the same text and background image. But I refuse to switch to 2.0. I’ll be back if there are any new developments.

I just want to change the photo on my background, and if I can get into the profile editor I can do that without a problem. I have already searched online and have run out of places to look.
Thanks for your help,
Lindsay

Dear MySpace Friend;
Based on what you have told us, our system pulled together some information on how you can customize the look of your MySpace 1.0 profile.
If you are not sure which profile version youre using, log into MySpace, mouse over Profile (in the upper nav bar), choose Customize Profile (from the drop-down menu) and your current version will appear at the top of the page. If you’re using 1.0, we recommend you click the yellow button labeled “Switch to 2.0” for ultimate control over your profile’s design and layout!
To customize the design of your MySpace 1.0 profile, here’s what you do:
1. Log into MySpace
2. From your homepage, mouse over Profile (in the upper nav bar) and choose Edit Profile
3. Click on Profile Editor (located in the upper right corner)
4. Preview the ever-expanding Theme Library (on the top of the left column)
5. when you find something you like, click Save & Publish!
6. If you want to get really creative, you can edit colors, theme positions or even add your own images by clicking Edit Theme (on the top of the left column)
7. Remember to save your changes (in the upper right corner)

—from me—-
Hello,
I am using 1.0, as I stated in the first message. I can get through to step 3. But when I get to the place where the theme library should be (step 4), there is only a message that says -you either have javascript turned off or need the latest version of flash player- I have corrected both of these problems (I have javascript turned on and I have the latest version of flash), so it would appear that the theme library in 1.0 is not working properly. I have asked around other places online and it seems like many other people have come to this same conclusion. I have also tried this on multiple computers in multiple browsers (Safari, Firefox, and IE).
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly; hopefully the theme library in 1.0 can be fixed.

Hello,
Thanks for contacting MySpace.
We apologize for the inconvenience but customization of Profile 1.0 is no longer supported. Please upgrade to Profile 2.0 for customization of your profile.
Sincerely,
The MySpace Support team
—I got this message last night. So the verdict is: if you signed up for myspace after April 2009 you are stuck with 2.0. If you had 1.0 and switched to 2.0 within the last 90 days, you can still go back. If 90 days have passed you are stuck with 2.0.
If you are using 1.0 and want to customize -as opposed to edit- your profile–edit the style of text, edit your background, the theme library is no longer an option. You have to use HTML code entered through the -About me- section. You find this code online by searching for free myspace background codes. BUT! So far I have not been able to get this to work.
For now I am stuck with the same text and background image. But I refuse to switch to 2.0. I will be back if there are any new developments.
well i put the code and all it says is …Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia’s Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player…..there is no window that says start over????
I put a code that I want in, and switch to “my profile” and it shows the new background for about 1 second then switches to the one I’m trying to get rid of !!
any suggestions?

HELP
Hello all! This is my problem. I am a fan of DIV overlays of Myspace, (an awesome kind of layouts) But the problem is that I have a photo in the background that was put in through profile editor which I can’t seem to get rid of now. I just want Myspace or some trick that somebody can find that can help me get rid of the photo. It may sound like one of the eariler problems posted in one of these comments. All I want is the photo in the back not obstructing my DIVs. It makes it look completely out of line and small. And the photo is from photobucket, so, yeah.. I just want to fix this. Please reply and see if you can help! Thanks!~

Hi,
I followed your instructions for the code but it did not work for me. I’m desperate to get rid of my old background picture since I edited it through “Profile Editor”. Please get back to me asap. Thanks.
Join sitemodel.net it HAS profile 1.0. For myspace users there will not be a way to switch back to profile 1.0, so give up and join sitemodel.net (: If you do have profile 1.0 on myspace they will give you 90 days to use there new profile you must switch back before your 90 days are up or you will be stuck with your profile 2.0 or 3.0!
