Be a Farmer on Farm Town: The Hottest Facebook App

Social Networks

Farm Town is the addicting Facebook game where you tend to and harvest your crops and fruit trees, and interact with other Facebook users.

Farm Town is one of Facebook’s well known applications and is very, very addicting. Its got real time social interaction, mixed in with making your own farm, harvesting crops, and building up your financial base.

Getting Started

When you sign up, you get to design your avatar, which is your farmer that interacts with other farmers and harvests your crops and everything else you do in Farm Town. Choose it’s hair style, colour, ears, nose and mouth and then click OK.

You will now have your farm and a small amount of coins, which are the currency. Click the Plow tool at the bottom of the screen to plow a plot for your seed. Be mindful about where you want to put it so make room for future plots. When your farmer has plowed the plot, click the Store icon and choose what you would like to plant. At the moment there are only a few to choose from, but as you advance, more is unlocked. Each one describes how much it costs and how long it will take before it is ready to harvest. Select the one you want then click on the plowed field to plant it. As it grows it will show its progress as percentage. After a lot of work, this is what your farm could look like:

Harvesting and Selling

When your harvests are ready, they say so when you roll your cursor over it. Use the Harvest tool to click on the crop. A menu should appear with the option to Harvest & Sell or Harvest & Storage. The Sell option will sell your crop immediately, but if you have more time and you want to get more money, click the other option.

The Market Place and Hiring

This is where you sell your harvest, and socialize with the other farmers. If you have placed your harvest in storage, this is where you sell it to get more money. To start, click on Farmer Tom by the stalls and a list of options will pop up. To sell your harvests, click the first option, and you will collect money for your harvest.

As your farm gets bigger, it will take more time to harvest in large amounts. As an alternative, you can hire people to harvest your crops for you. This works well both ways: you get more profit than if you harvested it yourself, and they get some income as well. And, of course, it’s faster for you. To hire someone, just go to the Marketplace and look for people that say they are looking for jobs. If you want to make the big bucks by doing a job for someone, in the Marketplace anounce that you would like a job. If someone is hiring, they will send you a message and take you to their farm.

Neighbours and Gifts

Your neighbours are your Facebook friends that are using Farm Town, and you can invite them to be your neighbour. This means you can visit their farms and vice versa, and you can hire them to harvest your crops too. You can also chat inside Farm Town.

Every day you can send a total of 30 gifts a day to your friends. They are things like trees and animals, and they do not cost you anything to send. Chances are that if you send a gift to someone, you will get one back. To send one, select the “Send Gifts” tab. When you get one, it will come up on your Facebook notifications.

That covers most of the aspests of Farm Town, so enjoy it and get harvesting!

I have had a lot of problems getting hired in the Marketplace on Farm Town as a harvester. So, being the writer that I am, and using my personal experiences as well as my research, I wrote this article on how to get a job on Farm Town quickly and easily. Hope you enjoy it!

We have spoken to Bert and he assures us that this is an error on the part of Facebook and that Farmtown WILL be back online soon.

Please be patience while we try to resolve this matter.

We will NOT be able to answer the many hundreds of PMs that are flooding into our inboxes as I type this. 46,000 forum members + a handful of mods = no personal responses during a crisis!
