Ever heard of Friendster? Well, it is very known especially in most Asian countries, but have you noticed some weird and funny activities people do when logged in? Here check it out.
Friendster
is a great website for connecting to old friends, colleagues, and even relatives in the internet. It is a site where you can show your personality in an interactive style. You can also add other users as friends and you can display them on your profile. And, you can also customize your profile and make it more interesting for friends to see.
As a user of a friendster account for more than a year now, I find some of my friends really taking friendster seriously and their activities online prove it. I listed eight ridiculous things they do in friendster.
-
Creating a new account even though the old account is not yet full.
Friendster has just about two or three thousand friend storage capacity. It means you can only add more users if you haven’t exceeded the maximum amount of friends.
I noticed some of my buddies own two accounts in friendster, but when I saw their friends list I found barely a hundred friends for the old and the new account. So, what is the purpose of creating a new account when you haven’t surpassed the limitation for your old account yet?
-
Creating multiple accounts
Some people have so many friendster accounts, because they have so many friends overloading their friends list. They want to add more friends and they eventually end up creating a new account. Nothing is wrong with that. But, if you’re creating another account and you’re adding the same friends you have on your old one – you are just being stupid!
-
Adding Unknown Friends
I’m with my pal one day, and we were logging in to friendster through his laptop. I was amazed to see how many friends he has on his account.
I asked him, “Dude, do you know all these people?”“Uh, yeah . . . but maybe just the half of them . . . I think.” he replied.
I tried not to laugh at my friend, but what he said is so illogical. Friendster is not an online contest of making the most friends in an account. There is no need to add strangers just to make you look like you’re friendly and popular. -
Posting senseless messages on the bulletin
This is one of the most annoying things people do in Friendster. They make surveys without results and conclusions, and they post it endlessly on the bulletin. They also post messages that are completely absurd. Down here I listed three of the strangest questions they asked in a survey:
- Does your dog eat vegetables?
- What is the color of your shirt right now?
- Do you think your neighbor has a crush on you?
See how weird? Some of the questions have no significance at all.
-
Using a weird primary photo
Okay, now this one takes the cake of being the funniest. When I was viewing my friends list, checking out my friends, I spot some people use a cartoon character for a primary photo and it was cool. Then, I saw one of my friends use a primary photo that was awfully weird. The picture featured my friend, his mouth is covered with duct tape and he was tied around a chair, half-naked. I called him to check if he was okay and he is. I viewed his photo again and I laugh my head off at the insane primary photo.
-
Using a celebrity’s photo
Someone was adding me to her list of friends. I didn’t know who she was, and all I got is her primary photo to analyze whether to accept or decline the invitation. The primary photo was a local celebrity so I accepted the request. Then, I found out she was just my classmate back in high school. I thought I was adding a real celebrity on my account. But, it was okay. I did not regret adding her. Sometimes, using a primary photo that is not you is confusing to other people; they can mix you up with someone they know. Try to be yourself: add friends, do not con friends.
-
Using a weird username
How are people going to know who they are adding as friends, when other users use symbols and expressions for their names?
-
Faking their age
There are so many people doing this. They fake their age to appear younger to the person they want to meet in friendster. And, some kids fake their age to appear older when they are not even legally permitted to create their own account. Don’t do this, just be honest. You are fooling others, and you are also fooling yourself.
And, that’s it for now; there are just so many notable things people do especially in the internet. Try to observe and you will see how funny some activities are. Hope you enjoyed reading.

LOL.. you’re totally right.. I noticed these too.
I’m guilty with one of them though (posting surveys on bulletins). Sometimes it’s just fun to answer them when you’re bored.
But.. yeah.. I totally agree with you about those people who add people they don’t know, or create another account then add the same old people.
Nice article!

you are right, except for a couple of things..
friendster’s main purpose is for people to meet new people.. so adding someone they don’t seems to be the first step of knowing that person.
and those posting surveys on their bulletins are just killing their time. at least THEY KNOW how to use friendster… and not just create an account and sit there, wait for a new photo from a person you see everyday.

To some people, Friendster is an instrument to get in touch with old friends or classmates. To some, it is a place to meet fresh faces and make new friends. It’s about how you use it. ‘Silly’ is subjective on one’s standards.
An alternate account is usually used to monitor your ‘closer’ friends’ activities. If you’re used to accepting all friend requests whenever they come, you might consider having an alternate. It’s like a large bookmark for all their profiles.
Friendster has become a regular habit to a large number of users. Answering surveys is a way of expressing yourself. Your network gets to read your answers and they post theirs. Through your answers, regardless of how senseless the question may be, your network could get to know who you truly are.

surveys are fun!!!
yes its pointless, but in a way, its kinda nice to be able to express yourself randomly; either in a serious way or a witty way.
you should try it out yourself.
come on, don’t let your pride get you.
you may think that no one bothers to read the surveys we post up on the bulletin, but for those that really cares about what you’re doing would want to read them. e.g. imagine ur crush posted a survey of herself on frienster, i bet ud read them over and over and over again about what they said. or perhaps a long lost friend of which u just want to randomly find some stuff out on them.
just really, try it out.
go on! =D

Hahaha! You’re damn right! Except from a couple of things.
People has their own freedom to express themselves. It’s funny to say that we use SURVEYS and put them in the bulletin so that we can express ourselves randomly. Survey helps people like us kill boredom. But still, people has their own choices. To do whatever they want to do.
Bye!
