Stumbling Along

Yes, Stumble has become a household name.

Stumble seems to be the new trend at promoting your articles, photos, poetry and stories. I am sure it has been a top promotion tool for along time, but it took me this long to get into the loop.

Over the past couple of weeks, stumble has become a house hold name. I seem to be stumbling along and have made quite a few friends whom I stumble for and who also do the same for me.

I added the stumble tool bar awhile ago, but wasn’t sure how to use the thing. I had read a lot about stumble being a great way to promote your articles and get page views so I figured I would give it a try. It does seem to help, but I have not had a huge jump in my articles views as of yet, but the friendships and great articles I have come across far exceeds my expectations.

The cool thing about stumble is you see it every place and if you have the tool bar it takes just the click of a thumb up or down to help your friends promote. I must admit I don’t use the thumbs down button very often, but I have run across a couple of things that I stumbled onto that was not in good taste. No, it was not anything from any of my friends just random stumbling along when I had nothing else to do.

I was in the forum a couple weeks ago and there was a room for stumblers. I did add a few from there but there are so many on stumble that it was hard to catch you all so I want to leave my address on stumble so you can all come find me. So if you are looking to add a new friend come add me to your list of friends and I will be sure to stumble along to your pages.

Ya, this is an article about promotion for stumble and for my friends who I have there. So far my experience has been a positive one for the most part, but I have run across one that sent me a message not to send him any  more under 100 word posts. I took offense to this because as we all know sometimes great things come in small packages. I have removed this person as a friend not because I no longer want to read his things but because I don’t want to by mistake send him something he finds not worth the read.

I am not very happy at the moment. This morning I wrote this article and listed 20 of my friends and my own stumble link in the article and TRIOND took them all out!!!!! I have written to them and asked why, but till date have not heard back. My intentions for this article was not only for others to track me on stumble but a lot of other members of triond that also are members of stumble. Once more I apology and do not understand why this has happened. Here is my link on stumble if you want to add me:

and if you are not on my friends list and want to be, please leave your link in the comments here and I will come and find you!

I am on SU and will try and add you. As far as putting your own work on the site you are limited, which I find disappointing. It is several months since I have been able to add anything from Triond. I hope you have more success. A good article by the way.

    Christine

I am on and off with it as I have major problems with the toolbar crashing my pc so I have to keep installing and uninstalling! Probably need a new pc! Well written article.

  4. Bren Parks Says:

I so love stumbling….I started out with the intent of promoting but now that is a side thing……grin..

Just a word of warning though…….make SURE to stumble about ten non triond sites for every triond one…….some of the stumblers have a real thing against trionders and can get you booted and also stumble upon will suspend your account for spamming…..also, only stumble very GOOD work I have only stumbled less than ten percent of my work.

    Great read and very helpful….

  7. Joni Keith Says:

    Hi lindalulu,

I got into stumbling from one of the forums and actually love it. I’ve seen sites I would have never found otherwise. I’m like Bren, I actually started stumbling with the intent on promoting my writing, but I have submitted very few of my own pieces. I did have a piece that I wrote that a friend of mine stumbled and I had over 2,000 views the first day. So, yeah, stumble does get you exposure. But like Bren said, be careful to stumble lots of other websites in addition to your Triond friends. Anyway, I’m Joni1126 on stumble upon. Nice article.

  8. R J Evans Says:

I agree 100% with Bren here – be very careful what you stumble! There is a law of diminishing returns in their algorithms and if you stumble the same sites consistenly then you will ultimately get less hits, attract the attention of SU purists who will see you as a spammer and ultimately report you.

I am guessing that Triond did not include your SU address because it might look too much like self promotion, which they frown upon for some reason, lol! As for the list of your friends, possibly for the same reason?

  9. Anna (aivzdog) Says:

I love stumbleupon. I am like addicted to it but most people who use it probably say that.
Heres my so check me out if you would like.

I’m not too crazy about SU :(

  12. CHAN LEE PENG Says:

I’ll follow some great tips here!

  13. Lost in Arizona Says:

Unfortunately RJ is absolutely right. SU frowns upon the stumbling of too many articles from one particular site; which might be considered as self-promotion. And as for Triond, they unfortunately have the right to edit our articles however they wish.. that’s all I’ll say on that… But for those of us in a community, there’s nothing wrong with circulating each other’s works. ;)

  14. papaleng Says:

I agree with Joni, RJ and Bren’s observations. SU is a great site to promote one’s work but just be very intelligent in dealing with it. as for your predicament here at Triond, I guess it’s their prerogative on what should be included in one’s article but just take your cool.

  15. valli Says:

Thank you very much for your great advice.

  16. Jo Oliver Says:

100 words…please give me a break. I cant blame you a bit for not being friends with that person. I am still getting the hand of SU, but I like it so far. I really have not seen where it does a lot of good when I stumble something, but I noticed that a couple of friends stumble something and bam pg clicks go haywire. Anyway, you should know by now how much I enjoy your writing, and would love to have you as an SU friend. I can be found at

Throw out your thoughts and you’re seeing results.

  18. nutuba Says:

Agree with Joni, Bren, RJ, and papaleng’s observations. I’ve been stumbling a lot of stuff from other writers and other sites. I’ve met some nice people on stumble (and a couple rude ones). Such is life. It’s a nice tool for sharing info, but I’m trying to keep from it becoming a way of life. :-)

  19. Lorenzo A. Fernandez Jr. Says:

SU is new to me, maybe I’ll try it now that I’ve read your great article.

  20. Ruby Hawk Says:

Thanks for the information. you seem very satisfied with the traffic you get from Stumble. Will have to work on it.

  21. Lauren Axelrod Says:

I really love SU, and again I agree about watching your SU amounts. I barely stumble one of mine a week. I think that’s because it takes forever to send it to everyone and I don’t want to get the boot from SU

  22. vim3 Says:

Hi! I have been meaning to join SU but have been putting it off…your article has made me give it a serious thought.

  23. luv2write Says:

Very good article Linda. I’m not so used to SU just because I’still dont know how to use it. But will soon get along with it :)

  24. Debra. Says:

I absolutely adore stumble! Although RJ and Bren are definitely right, if you stumble too much from triond then you will get blocked until you balance out the difference. You do have to be careful with others as well but all and all it’s a wonderful place.

  25. Melody Arcamo Lagrimas Says:

I have an SU account, but have not been using it much. Will try to visit it more often.

  26. Will Gray Says:

Interesting, I might give it a try. Thanks.

  32. CA Johnson Says:

Great article, Linda. I’ve been having trouble with Triond too. I have been trying to post the same article for a few days and I can’t do it. I am getting so frustrated.

  36. BC Doan Says:

    Good ideas for SU

  37. DA Cournean Says:

Thanks, this answered a lot of my questions.

  38. Glynis Smy Says:

Becareful is the word, there are many who are being removed or blocked for over promoting Triond works, their own or others. In one day I was contacted by 8 stumblers to say they had been locked out of their SU accounts, and to be careful. I now am very selective about what I stumble and how I do it. Interesting article.

  39. Kimberly Moore Says:

    Stumble is very awesome:)
