What’s a bookmarklet button and why should you use it?
Why should you use bookmarklet buttons? Bookmarklets save time, allowing you to bookmark a page with a simple click on an installed bookmarklet button, over having to type a site name in your browser, searching for it, logging-in, then having to add your article URL.
Triond offers the handy Share feature which allows writers to bookmark their articles from within the Triond site but what do you do if you write an article at another site and you want to bookmark it from there?
Instead of typing the name of the site into your browser, logging in, and then pasting in your article URL, you simply drag a bookmarklet up to your browser’s horizontal bar. From there, each time you want to bookmark an article, you simply press the bookmarklet button to submit your article page URL.
Before dragging and installing any bookmarklet, make sure you have registered with the site and that you have signed in first.
Bookmarklet Buttons: Step-by-Step Instructions
For this bookmarklet tutorial, we will use the site Mixx, so that you learn how to install the Mixx bookmarklet.
- Open a page or an article that you want to submit to Mixx. Now, shrink it down.
- Type “Mixx” into your browser. You will need to either sign-up or log-in (if you’ve already joined Mixx).
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Mixx page and look at the third heading: “The Kitchen.” Underneath, select “Mixx Tools.”
- When the page opens, look down the page until you see: “Bookmarklet.” Underneath, you’ll notice “Drag this link ‘Add to Mixx.’”
- Place your cursor over it and double-click, now drag the bookmarklet up to your browser bar. You may have to adjust the page so that the distance to drag the bookmarklet isn’t so far. (Do this by clicking on the “slider” over on the right so that the bottom of the page ascends and the bookmarklet is closer to the browser bar.
- The Mixx bookmarklet should appear in the horizontal bar.
- Now, bring up the article you want to save and simply press the handy Mixx button–and viola! Your article URL should appear and you simply continue, adding tags and selecting categories to bookmark your article to Mixx.
- Bookmarklets may seem confusing at first but once you get used to using them, you’ll never go back.
While Triond offers its writers the Share feature, which allows for bookmarking across a large number of sites, not all online sites do. You may submit articles to a site that offers only a handful of bookmarking buttons. HubPages, for example, offers a limited number of buttons, and for higher page views, you may desire to bookmark your Hub content across multiple sites to generate more traffic.
Bookmarklet Tips
Each time you visit a site, check to see if they have bookmarklets.
Sites that Have Bookmarklet Buttons
You’ll find, over time, that you use certain bookmarking sites over and over again. By using bookmarklet buttons you’ll ensure that all your articles from different sites are bookmarked so that you drive the ultimate amount of traffic.
Bookmarking Sites & Resources
Bookmarklet buttons are time-savers that make attracting readers for your articles just that much easier.

Hi Jo,
Yes bookmarklets can help you to easily bookmark your articles at other sites that don’t have the Share capability that Triond does. I find them especially helpful when submitting at other sites.
