As writers, I’m sure all of us would have come across advice telling us how important it is to promote our articles. Today ‘m going to take a look at one such site where it is possible for us to promote our articles, Linkfilter.net.
As writers, I’m sure all of us would have come across advice telling us how important it is to promote our articles. Today I’m going to take a look at one such site where it is possible for us to promote our articles, Link Filter
Link Filter, as the name of the site itself suggests, is a filter of links. Links are posted by users, moderated by users, and given a rating. Everything on Link Filter is based on a point system, the links are ranked on a point system, users are ranked on a point system, and what you can do in one day is determined by how many “contribution points(CP)” you have.
Understandably, to prevent spamming, Link Filter has to have a few measures and guidelines put in place. New users are unable to post links. They need to “level up” to level 10, through accumulating “experience points” by clicking on links, posting comments, and rating links. The number of links that a user can post is also limited by the amount of CP that a user has. CP cost for link posting will increase based on the number of links a user has posted in one day. The first link for a day costs 10 CP, the second link costs 20 CP and so on. Besides these, there are of course, also admins who will outright delete a link if it is deemed to be inappropriate.
And now I move on to the part my fellow writers are interested in. Self-promotion. At Link Filter, you are allowed to post links to your own site. But. Yes, there is a but. Obviously you can’t just join and start posting links to all your articles every single day. Anyway, back to the But.
-
You are allowed to post a self-promotional link only after you have posted 15 links that have not been deleted.
-
You are limited to only one self-promotional link once a month. Once a month as in 30 days, not calendar month.
-
You are only allowed to link to the same site once. You may post another self-promotional link the next month, but it has to be to a different site.
- You need to disclose that it is a link to your site (in the link description).
So, now that I have given you an introduction to Link Filter, are any of you interested in checking Link Filter out?

Don’t spam us. LF is a web community, not a tool for your self promotion. That goes for you and any readers you might have here or elsewhere.

*sighes*
The Linkfilter community does tend to be overly agressive and adopt a “spammer until proven innocent” approach to new users, Foolproof. “Don’t spam us” would be better replaced with “Don’t post a link as soon as you can since we’re going to call it spam and delete it.”
If you read through my article again, what’s in there is what you can find in the Linkfilter FAQ about when you can self-promote, which does make it viable as a tool for self-promotion.
