From the creator of There, I give you an instant messenger “game” that will blow you away. (imvu.com)
Have you ever wanted to be able to treat an instant messanger like an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game)? Your in luck, as
IMVU
, the avatar based text messaging program allows you to buy
rooms, accessories, clothes, and more, just as a real mmo would, by Will Harvey, the creator of There (
There.com
). It even has a “chat now” option, which enables you to meet up with random people and chat, just as
you would have conversations with random people in mmos. If you have friends to whom you’d like to chat with all at once, rest assured, there is a group chat option, which also can enable random people to join your
chat.
MySpace
addicts, rest assured, there is a profile creator VERY similar to MySpace’s, only you don’t have to use out resources in order to design your layout, it’s already built into the website.
There is a downside to all of this, and unfortunately, it’s quite a groundbreaking downside: there is almost no way of gaining credits (in game money) other than buying them with real money. You can, send invitations
to friends to join IMVU, which earns you a small bundle of money, as well as some forms of advertisement for the more computer advanced people, but how much of this can be done? Fortunately, IMVU is only in beta
(it’s being worked on, and has yet to be a completed “game”), and when the final version comes out, there HOPEFULLY will be many other ways to gain credits. Until then, it will remain a money machine, for most
players DO buy their credits.
