Build Your Vocabulary and Help End World Hunger

Here’s a site you can go to to build your vocabulary and help feed the hungry people of the world.

You can have fun and build your vocabulary at the same time. When you get a word right, the people who sponsor this site will donate 20 grains of rice to feed hungry people. The site donates rice through the United Nations World Food Program. There are 55 different levels. Most people don’t get to 48, and when you get the word right the levels get harder. Almost everybody can get up to 40 before the words get difficult. If you get a word wrong you don’t lose any rice but it doesn’t gain any either, and you drop to a lower level.

It’s a fun way to improve your vocabulary, says Alexandra Stephens a 15 year old student at Wesleyan School.” The more you get right the more you are learning and the more you are donating. I do it for two reasons, to improve my vocabulary and help those in need. I notice since I started I am using words I didn’t know, and expressing ideas better.

The words begin at third or fourth grade level and go to college level. Adults can also increase their vocabulary. If you want to help end world hunger go  to Free Rice. Every word you get right helps feed a hungry person.

If you find anymore of these little gems, let me know! I’m always looking for new words to use and being able to help someone have a good meal at the same time is a great Idea. I don’t know who came up with this Idea, but they definitely deserve a big pat on the back!!! Fantastic article, Ruby!!!
