Now that you’ve got this fabulous phone, how do you hook it up to really get the most out of it? Here are some of the coolest free programs out there that you can get for your HTC Touch Pro.

The HTC Touch Pro didn’t hit main stream as hard as the iPhone or the Palm Pre, but it’s still one of the best phones on the market – if you know how to hook it up!
Here’s a list of five of the best free programs available out there on the net to help you get the most out of your new smartphone:
-
WMWiFi
This is an absolute must have. Never fails to drop jaws – turn your Touch Pro into a mobile WiFi hotspot! At the time I got my Touch Pro, this program was still free at version .91. To be fair to the developer, the latest version is now on sale at www.wmwifirouter.com. The free version works fine for me, but the developer no longer offers support or answers questions about the free version.
-
TorchButton
This handy little free program lets you turn on your HTC Touch Pro camera flash led on like a small flashlight. Very cool and surprisingly useful in various situations as simple as searching for something under a bed or in the back of a dark closet, finding keys at night or briefly lighting a path in the dark. You can get it free at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422367
-
AE Button Plus
Ever wanted to customize your HTC Touch Pro buttons to do whatever you want? What’s stopping you? Nothing, after you get this free program from http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php. Each button has four settings that you can customize: single tap, double tap, triple tap, and long hold. You can, for example, set the volume down button to turn on TorchButton (mentioned above) when pressed and held, and to bring up the mic for voice commands at double tap. Pretty cool.
-
The Core Pocket Media Player
The HTC Touch Pro comes with Windows Media, but that program is far to limiting when it comes to video play back. Amp up your smart phone with TCPMP from http://rapidlibrary.com/index.php?q=plugins+tcpmp+rmvb&page=3 . You’ll find a lot of different versions there, personally, the one I use is TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03 .CAB
-
Advanced Configuration Tool
There are plenty of tweeks you can do to your HTC Touch Pro, and this is the best program for allowing to do so. Plenty of things, from the width of the scroll bars to various tweeks to improve speed can all be handled easily with this neat program you can get free from http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool/downloads.html.
Enjoy hooking up your phone!

You can do alot with this phone. Sure its not set it and forget like an iphone (which is generally what the average person wants) but if youre a tech head that likes flashing roms, customzing and such, check out ppcgeeks.com for more info.
