Here are some sites you can use for your websites, or for other things like posters, banners, ad design. These sites offer images and photos that aren’t copy written. So you don’t need permission to use these sites or the photos on the sites. Also, these sites are FREE.

MorgueFile – Unknown amount – But I know there are a lot available

FreeFoto – 118969 images available

And these are some really popular sites that you can buy photos from online. Some of these sites offer images for as low as .20cents per download. All you have to do is buy “credits” and then spend the credits on the photos. I like using these sites and the ones right up above, because they offer really nice quality photos that you can use for multiple things. I use photos from these sites for my recipe site. Usually I can take my own photos because I’m a photographer, but if your writing out a recipe and want to show what it looks like and don’t actually have the dish in front of you, its nice to be able to take a photo from some place else. Some of these sites that make you pay, even allow you to sometimes get the image for free if you use a small copy rather than a really large copy. Just be on the look out for little tidbits like this. Here are some of the sites that want you to pay a small fee or that let you have them for free for a small resolution:

iStockPhoto – 3 million images available

ShutterStock – 3 million images available

FotoSearch – 3,100,000 images available

SXC dot hu – 367,532 images available

Using any of these sites depends on your personal need and how good you want the photo to look. If quality doesn’t matter then go ahead and use Google, Yahoo!, or photobucket search (unless you plan to use it for commercial use). If quality really does matter to you then use the last two sections of this article for photos. Personally, it doesn’t matter what I do online, quality always matters!

I am constantly using MorgueFile, in fact its bookmarked on FireFox so I can just go to it whenever I want to. They have a lot of really great images on there, especially of food and food related items.
