With the current economy, it can be a budget-cruncher to afford rental movies or buying even the most affordable DVD. However, with a high-speed Internet connection that most people have with Broadband or DSL, you can watch all the TV shows and movies you probably have time for right on your computer. Better yet, you can watch them when you choose, giving you the most control over your daily schedule.

Mylifetime.com

Sometimes, you just need a good romantic comedy to relax with and unwind. If you don’t have Lifetime on your television system, you can still watch full-length movies that run on the cable network and some of the TV shows. Click on the video tab and you’ll get a list of the current offerings.

Hulu.com

If you like old TV sitcoms and dramas, you’ll find many of them available on Hulu. Check out the alphabetical listing or use their site search engine if you’re looking for a specific show. The quality on this site is generally very good to excellent.

ABC.com

Love the sitcoms and dramas but don’t have time to watch them in real time? Load up the ABC.com player and watch your favorites like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives in HD quality on your computer. The commercials are limited making this a superb site for TV viewing.

CBS.com

The site offers quite a bit of content including sitcoms (How I Met Your Mother) and the dramas such as CSI, NCIS and the Survivor reality show.  You can also watch The Unit, Numb3rs and The Price is Right as well as some of the network’s soap operas. It’s an interesting mix for CBS fans.

TV.com

Along with CBS.com, this is an additional CBS-content site that includes not only the regular sitcoms and dramas, but also includes recent newscasts and TV specials unavailable elsewhere.

NBC.com

Another fantastic network site is NBC.com for fans of 30 Rock, The Office, ER and other hits. The site even offers some oldies such as The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Miami Vice. The shows are excellent quality and the commercial interruptions are minimal.

Fox.com

Another hot site for watching TV shows, Fox.com has some of the best: House, 24, and The Simpsons. Other network shows are available as well. The site runs smoothly and the quality is one of the best available.

Sling.com

If you’re looking for more obscure old TV shows and movies, you may have some luck finding them on Sling. The site also pulls in video from the network and cable sites, as well as listing others that are more difficult to find.

Veoh.com

Favorites from the 60s, 70s and 80s such as: Love Boat, Flipper, Eight is Enough, and Father Knows Best, but you’ll also find many new shows as well. The site runs smoothly and the videos are of good quality.

Watch-movies.net

Full length movies can be watched, often as one full episode or sometimes in two parts. Mostly good quality so if you’re looking for a good movie to watch, this may be a good site to go looking.

Having absolute control over when and how you watch your favorite TV shows and movies is one way to get a better handle on your schedule and manage your time more effectively. Using the above sites to find the shows you enjoy and watch them when you choose will allow you greater freedom for allocating how you spend your free time.
