A Passive Call to Triond for Reform: Develop a Better Photo Submission System or Reformat Picable

I absolutely adore Triond. It gives me a place to share writing, improve my skills and even make a little extra scrap. I think Triond has potential. I think in a few years Triond will become one of the best user generated content sites. However, there are many improvements to be made. It’s up to the faithful Triond writers and content generators to suggest and push for these changes however.

Picable needs a revamp. Badly. Picable looks dated. Compared to Flickr, Picable is the young, annoying brother who doesn’t know as much but still has potential. Triond needs to develop Picable the same way Flickr became so popular. Don’t make it just a site to throw some pictures on. Allow the users to create photo albums, organize their photos and easily browse their photos through submenus and albums. Develop a community. Make it more about sharing art and life experiences and less about making money. By doing this the money will come.

What this will do is encourage people to browse photos on Picable. As of right now, when you link a photo to someone, they can look at only that one photo. What if, for some reason, they want to see other pictures from your trip? Yes, you can click a small link at the bottom of the screen to view more photos from that user, but it has poor visibility and is hard to find.

Picable should allow their users to generate an album and organize their photos how they wish. Generating multiple albums and allowing visual references for browsers will guide them to the next photo or set of photos. This will keep people on the site longer, browsing more photos and generating more content for both publishers and for Triond. More content means more money for Triond and for their content generators. When you’re browsing a set of 500 photos, you won’t go forward and backwards navigating a multitude of pages with disorganized photos. You want to hit next photo or last photo.

Picable needs a facelift. It looks clumsy and thrown together. The graphics look dated and the interface is stale. Make a site whose main focus is showing off art, look somewhat artistic.

I’m not trying to bash Triond. I’m trying to help them and help us; the content generators. Focus attention on Picable and use it to get some photos up on the Hot Content list. Picable can be a great resource, but it needs work. I have full faith in Triond; hopefully in the near future they can incorporate some changes. Please post suggestions and ideas in the comments section below, hopefully Triond will read and take regard!
