Embarrassed to have the same ringtone as the person next to you? Want a unique ringtone you can call your own? Here are 10 websites where you can create your own ringtone for free.

  1. Make Own Ringtone

In this user-friendly website, you can convert your audio files into ringtones. The audio files which are accepted in this website are in mp3, wma and ogg formats. You can set the range and clip the duration of the ringtone you want for your mobile. It allows you to work in three distinct modes – easy, advanced and expert mode. In the advanced and expert modes, you can modify the quality of the sound.

  2. Mobile17

At Mobile17, you can convert mp3 files into ringtones. It claims that it is able to support the new iPhone and works with 94% of popular everyday mobile phones. You can also deliver the finished content via various methods such as WAP/HTTP (mobile web) or USB/Bluetooth/IRDA capabilities. You have to sign up to use the service though. It ensures that you will not receive spam e-mails or spam text messages. There is also no subscription to use the website.

  3. Phone Zoo

You can create custom ringtones, photos and games at Phone Zoo. Besides that, there is also a community where you can add people to your Friends List and view ringtones, photos and games others have created. You can also rate and comment on ringtones they have posted.

  4. Razz

In this website, you can create and share “audio-enriched” photos. You can enhance images with famous sound clips or even voice animations from Hollywood movie scenes. Check it out!

  5. Apple iTunes

There are half a million tracks to choose from at Apple iTunes. iTunes gives you the license to edit and play these custom ringtones. The setback is that you have to pay for this service. You need to pay 99 cents to buy a song from their library. Once you clip the portion of the song (up to 30 seconds) you want as your ringtone, they will charge you another 99 cents. So that is a total of $1.98 to create your very own ringtone.

  6. Zedge

At Zedge, you can download free ringtones, wallpaper and games for your mobile. You can also create your own image, music and ringtone here. You just need to upload mp3 file and crop the portion you want and upload to your mobile phone. You can also share your ringtones with your friends in the Zedge community. You can make new friends, vote and comment on the ringtones others have created. Zedge claims to have 10 million registered users. The number is increasing every single day. On the day I checked the website, 9,000 people joined on that day alone!

  7. Myxer

Another website which has 10 million users is Myxer. You can create custome ringtones and wallpaper from files you already have on your computer. You can also easily send the finished ringtone to your mobile phone directly. The fascinating thing about this website is that using the MyxerTags Technology, you can share and sell mobile content from your own website or have it featured in Myxer website. This is mainly for original content owner or independent artists. Fascinating!

  8. Create Ringtone

You can create custom ringtone from digital audio files such as mp3, wav, wma and ogg file formats. Select a section of the song you want to make as your ringtone. You can also create a ringtone using your own voice or any musical performance. The setback is that you have to do an additional step of downloading the software.

  9. Cellfish

At Cellfish, you can create a custom ringtone in 3 easy steps. Select an mp3 file, crop the track and add to your phone. The setback is that you can only use the mp3 format. You cannot share with your friends and it allows you to crop only 20 seconds of the song for your ringtone. Many other websites allow up to 30 seconds of song. The interesting this about this website is that not only will you get to send images, videos, mp3 and ringtones to your phone, you can also send videos from the web and have text alerts and rss feeds delivered to your phone. There is a list of local, global and business news you can subscribe to.

  10. My Tiny Phone

At My Tiny Phone, you can upload mp3 files of up to 6MB, crop the song and convert it to a ringtone. You can transfer the data via cable from your computer to your mobile phone or bluetooth it to your phone. You can also use the phone’s WAP browser. The steps to do all this are very clearly explained. Nothing can go wrong at My Tiny Phone.

Have fun creating your very own ringtones with these websites!

You can add: http://www.freeringers.net/ (which funny enough isn’t actually free)

Pretty cool to be able to create your own ringtone :)

I may have to introduce my boyfriend to some of these sites. Every morning, we wake up to “Eye of the Tiger”, punching and huffing our way out of bed.

The easiest one to use by far I think is http://www.bongotones.com because they don’t have all those stupid ads placed everywhere on their website. Also, the ringtones are free and they let you create your own if you want to.
