Tired of getting viruses and spyware? Want to make you and your computer safer? Don’t want to spend lots of money on antivirus softwares? Then read below to find out how to protect your computer.

Steps

  1. Go to CNET Download. Then click on Antivirus, Firewall, & Spyware
  2. After that, click Firewall Software
  3. Click on All licenses and then select Free. Click Filter
  4. Look for a firewall with good ratings and download it
  5. Now you need an antivirus software. A good free one that I know of is AVG Antivirus. Click Antivirus Software
  6. Click on All licenses and then select Free. Click Filter
  7. Look for an antivirus software with a good rating. I recommend AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
  8. All you need to do now is install a pop up blocker if you don’t already have one. Pop ups may contain viruses and other unwanted things

Tips

  • Use Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser. It is safe and has a built in pop up blocker
  • Run AVG Anti-Virus and scan your computer every day
  • Don’t download something from sites that you don’t trust or never heard of
  • Never download software from pop ups
  • Try not to go to any adult sites. These sites usually contain viruses

Great advice on using Firefox. It just makes staying safe online a lil easier.

There are a few other ways you can easily improve your security tremendously. One is to stop using Microsoft products. Security in Microsoft products is an afterthought. Another is to use the Opera browser, which is more stable and secure than even Firefox and has always been the most web-standard compliant of any browser.
