Just something about online abuse.

If you’ve been using the internet for more than a couple of months, you’ll know that online abuse happens at every corner. But what exactly is online abuse? Well online abuse is typically someone purposely trying to get you mad. Of course not always, but the most part of online abuse is someone purposely trying to get you mad. The other form of online abuse, while not AS bad as the other, is spamming, which is of course(In case you, by some miracle, don’t know) the act of repeatedly posting something over and over and over.

Chances are if you’ve never suffered from online abuse, you think to yourself, “Well this is stupid, if that was me I’d just laugh it off and ignore it.” Well you know, easier said than done. You can say this all you want but once someone starts to purposely piss you off, well half the time you toss out your common sense and decide to respond to this person with vulgarities and insults. At this point, the other person will have succeeded in doing what they wanted to do, which was of course enrage you.

At this point you’ll probably think, why would anyone do this? Why would ANYONE in their right mind get some sort of pleasure making people suffer, making people get angry, and making some people cry? There are alot of reasons why but I won’t get into them and let you figure them out.

Some popular websites for people like this are Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, and the like. It’s a breeding ground for these people, who are known as/referred to as “trolls”. if you’ve had a Youtube account, a Myspace, a Facebook, or been to any forum in general, you’ve most likely already had a run in with them. And I bet you it wasn’t all too pleasant either.

The only real way to deal with these “trolls” is too of course ignore them. This is harder than it sounds as most trolls are relentless and will continue harrassing you. Eventually they will stop going after you and find someone else.

The truth is no matter where you go, you’ll find them, Spammers, Hackers, Trollers, it’s all the same. If a site has a report button, don’t be afraid to use it. You’ll help keep these people down, and make your online experience, and the online experience of others, MUCH more enjoyable.
