Signing up for websites and forums can be simple, but creating a unique username and secure password can get difficult. My “Full Sign-up” guide for any website guides you through each step.
This guide makes signing up for any website or forum quick, easy and secure.
The Username:
Most websites and forums require you to make up a username. Making a username can be easy but making a unique username without any numbers and symbols is hard. But first, why would you want to make a username without numbers and symbols?
With games like Neopets and Runescape having a username without any numbers or special characters can say a lot about yourself. Thousands of users would want their own name as their username, yet just about all the “simple” user names would have been taken by the other million players. If your username was something unique without numbers or symbols people would know your creative or even think you are an experienced player.
Making up your username is hard, so I usually start off with a word. It could be any word. Think of your favorite movie, game or brand of clothes.
Eg. Adidas
Now play around with it. Switch some letters around, change some of the letters and even reverse the whole name!
Eg. Dasadi, Dasido, Dazedo, Adias.
I know your thinking, “Those are strange usernames!” They are. You’ll get used to them though.
Password:
Making a password can be easy, but remembering what it is can be really frustrating. To remember your passwords you can use a password manager. If you don’t want to download and install any software, you can use online managers or follow these steps to making a easy-to-remember yet secure password.
First think of a significant word you will easily remember like a name of a company you work for etc.
Now think of a significant number such as your birth year.
Fuse them together. Eg if I thought of “tsunami” as my word (my pc case brand name lol) and my number was 401 (my mobile phone model number) to fuse them together I would end up with this:
T4s0u1nami
It looks complicated but its easy to remember.
If you want something even easier, like I use as my log on password on my PC, I use an easy combination of keys on my keyboard that I can type in super-fast.
Some examples are:
..al, ppak, 00pa, ]]ap, qqla, //a’, //z’, ooqm
Fiddle around with your keyboard. It all depends on how you type.
Email:
Most websites require you to enter a valid email address to verify your account. Now this can fill up your inbox with junk so I suggest you create a free online email account you can use as your junk email box or you can use a disposable email address. My favorite is
dodgit.com
.
You don’t need a password to log into your account and you don’t even need to register. Make sure your address is unique, not like inbox@dodgit.com or mail@dodgit.com because as I said above, you don’t need a password to log into your account and anyone could get into your inbox.
I know there are many other steps involved in registering for a website/forum such as Spam Prevention verification and birthdays etc but they are self-explanatory and don’t need a guide.
