Force Continuum and The PPA

Force Continuum uses different official and force to create fear. Crime is hard to control the use of force continuum is different levels of force that apply to different official such as the PPA. Although not all levels of force will apply to the PPA. There are several levels that the PPA will enforce to create fear in other personnel and society to deter crime rates in an organization. The Force continuum uses different types of physical contact and actions against attacks on individuals.

These different steps are in order of how to act against an attack and are a continuum that is followed by the PPA and other officials.

The first level is the mere presence in the workplace or an organization. The mere presence of official such as the PPA is enough to prevent from crime occurring beforehand. In other words some individuals only commit crime because there are no authority figures. But when some are present it will minimize threats.

The second level is about communication. This level will consist of both communication and interaction with others. There are several officials that will use communication and offer help to anyone that is in need. This has been known to help deter crime just because communication can help to control some situations, without the need of excessive force. An individual that is having difficulty understanding something can be a good example of someone that will need good communication to handle the situation and help assist them.

Depending on the organization there are the next level may apply to security. The first is hands-off security. This type of security not many people are aware of. A lot of people are not aware that security can not touch them unless they are being attacked. Security will use this tactic in some cases. Other types of official and even some security depending on their training can also use hands-on security. This type of security is used to create fear by touch. An occasional touch while being escorted or lead away will show this is the level of force that allows for touch to occur other than at a time of being attacked.

The next level of force will include devices that are less-than lethal to control a situation. The PPA can use this level of force if they are properly trained and required to by the organization in which they work for. The lethal incapacitation devices are used to protect themselves while on duty.

The fifth step in the continuum involves the hard, empty-hand control. His step will include a force such as joint manipulation or restraint to gain compliance or control of the situation.

The next level will include empty-hand impact will use different stunning techniques to different targets.

The levels of continuum will only get more physical. There are several steps in the continuum but I am trying to breakdown some of the most common ones. One other level of force will include the use of weapons. Now this level only includes weapons for protection such as batons, stun guns, tasers, and other impact weapons.

The continuum is a series of steps that security and other official will follow during different situations. Depending on the official the level of force will vary. One official may use the continuum to the fullest for compliance, but another may not be trained or qualified to do some of the following levels of force.
