I got a check, and it’s the last check I will ever take from anyone online.
From my time of doing contracting work I ran across a guy who I was doing work for and he told me to through out all this computer monitors and keyboards, so I started thinking maybe I can sell this stuff online.I took a look around to see what this stuff was worth and I came up with selling this stuff on Craigslist.com, the next thing I know I got an email from a guy who called himself Ron now he claims he is from Seattle,Washington so I said whatever then he says he wants to make me an offer and buy all the computer stuff I have I thought to myself this is a dream come true and if it sounds like its a dream it was, when the check came he sent it federal ex next day air. I was thinking cool I went to the bank the next day the teller told me give me two forms of ID and I went home and got my other ID, now she knew something was not right but never told me this I found out after I was arrested then to mention Bank of America is the problem she then actually called the Police on the and if they would have said this check was not good I would have ripped it up right there but no not this chick.
After I came back with the second form of ID she said you know this is fraud now how does the person know who received the check that this is a scam you do not know, so I then asked her how am I suppose to know this, this did not matter to her after I was walking out the guard reached for the gun, I just kept walking and went home. No longer then 10 minutes went by and I heard a knock at my door it was the Police, they asked me to come outside on top of this none sense arrest they did not read me my rights. I was arrested and spent over 72 hours in a holding cell which is not legal for the Police dept. to do. To top this off after all that I was held for that long the Detective asked me where did it come from and then said well there is nothing I can do for you now.
I am thinking to myself they are gonna see that this is not me who did this after all I had no record for anything like this before but I thought that would matter but i did not matter, I was processed and sitting in jail with a bunch of fools. The Detective came back in to get smart with me so I told him I got nothing to lose, come and say that to my face because after the second day sitting in that nasty cell I wanted to fight. But that would not help my situation so I had to first get out of there and then after getting out of there for 4 and half days, it was a Friday and the court gave me a court hearing on Monday, now this really sucks. Because I had no lawyer and I had to ask for a continuance the Judge granted this for me. Now I called this bad mouthing Detective from home and tried to explain to him what happened he did not care as long as he had someone to put charges on he was not calling me back or anything so I had to call some old friends which my school buddy drove me to the library. So had time to read about laws now I am not a lawyer but I had to represent myself I am guessing your wondering what did I get 5 years in jail. Well after 8 months of fighting this and the Bank of America teller not showing to the court hearings they actually sent the wrong person to accuse me and I had a conference with the District Attorney and we came to an agreement that ARD pleading no contest, and getting this ex-sponged so now after a year my record will be cleaned.
Now I spend my time asking myself how did I get into this mess did I deserve this you can supply the answer because I had no idea what this check was I actually thought he was sending me money plus shipping fees and I ended up looking at my life going down hill. This is not fare to the people who live right and pay taxes in America we need a system that works fairly to the Courts and the people. Just remember be careful of the people to send you a check.

This is just an awful situation. I know there are a lot of injustices with our legal system. Any system can only be as good as the people who are placed in authority to run it.
I am glad your record will be cleared. As a friend, I would like to make a suggestion to you…I know you have had a horrible sitation, maybe your life isn’t what you want it to be…but you can change it You can make your life whatever you want it to be. HOW? Believe in yourself, your dreams, your goals, and yes your skills. My friend I had to start all over again when I was in my mid twentitie….you see I was in an auto accident which by every doctor’s diagnosis was to leave me 75% disabled.
I have a lot of faith in God, by His grace He gave me the determination to have something better. And I do, being only physically limited…sure it has been a difficult battle…but I am coming out victorious…and you can too. I believe in you…so please Bro get ‘er done! My best to you, friend.

Wow, you really got a raw deal. This guy probably does this to people all the time. That’s why I use Paypal. And I’m sure you know that now. I hope they caught this guy. If they didn’t this time, he’ll get his in the end.

Listen to this Big Brother, I explained the whole situation to this lady from the start and when she took her time that is when I detected something was wrong, If I had any idea that this was a scam check I would have trashed it right away.
I do not have time to be running from the law, I am not scared of them by a long shot. I have been facing people more crazier then the police in Philadelphia. I grew up here and I am 35 years old. Read this article carefully before you respond think about this sitting there for a few days of eating cheese and water was not my day of freedom nor dealing with the Police Dept. who did not care but the fact that they had someone one to accuse I am not saying this happen to me because I was black but this happen to me because of lack of education provided in the Philadelphia School System, I am going to put the pig on the cutting board BOA, you do the math and see who they are, a bank that will change the name of its carrier because they want to dodge the system because people are filing chapter 11, chapter 7 all these things have nothing to do with me but instead of asking a few questions to find out the facts they screwed by life up. I am asking for nothing but to give a warning about what happens to us as people. This is a civil matter that people say oh well the bank will know its fraud on the person who wrote it. But that is not the case they say well your the bad guy.
So you can end up taking a check from someone and end up eating cheese and water yourself big brother. You might find yourself asking for my assistance one day.. Just be careful because your name is big brother but you do not know what the real big brother has in stored for you. Until this happens to you or your kids or someone in your family then you would understand.
This is why I took it to the bank so they could tell me from the start if something was not right and they called the Police dept. I can not blame anyone more then the bank teller and police for not giving me a good investigation I found this to be a put a record on the a man of good standing! issue..

You sound like someone I know, I got a good laugh out of that, god had nothing to do with this unless he is writing scam checks, things happen in life. This is how I got to look at it. But anyway thanks for your post and to close this correctly I do beleive there is a god.. but thats another story, I will write about that next!

I remember when it all happened to you. I definitely felt your pain as always. Dmobile come on now you know and I know it all happened for a reason. At the time were you living like you were supposed too or not. Be honest with yourself. Only you can answer that question. And life situation such as your case happens to people all day long because they fell to realize what they are doing in life to prevent things like that from happening. Not to say you can prevent everything but your eyes would more open if your living a strict way of life. And when situations like that occur you mind and spirit will jump into automatically into a humbling mode. The relationship you have with the MOST HIGH power the CREATOR is more important then what we as people be thinking their were going through. If your mind is on a spiritual mode you could see where I’m coming from because all this things that occur come from the CREATOR no one else. Either because were sinning and it‘s time to pay up or it can be a test to strengthen us up and mature us even more. You have to understand how He is coming towards you in your life and the same goes for you. It was a terrible lesson to have to learn I know but look at you now. Let’s keep it real when your doing something you never know whose watching but you can be sure the CREATOR is always watching. So be careful and look into the mirror and not fool yourself and you be more educated and discipline about how you conduct business. Straight up D you know better just like me I’m no different because we all get a fair chance choose good or bad. When you chose bad guess what you get bad vise versa. Everyday continue striving to be the best you can be by improving upon yourself and others around you. And keep a positive and righteous attitude when you approach difficult tasks. But you better also dig deeper into your knowledge of self and who you are and what is your purpose in life you need direction and vision for the future. Spirituality my good brother is something you can not run away from. You’ll slap yourself silly when you realize truly that you been holding out and back what you been gifted with. Something that is not rightly yours because it belongs to the MOST HIGH the one who gave to you and it’s not hard to figure. It’s right before your eyes every morning and night: your life, your family, protection, wisdom, opportunity, options, food, shelter, clothing, and all other bear necessities and intangible fortunes. Mercy has been granted to you and if look in the world how people die left and right and you’re still alive you get my point good. Peace

Similar thing happened to a buddy of mine in Tallahassee. Someone wanted to buy his DJ equipment and sent him a check. He put it in the bank and paid his credit cards bills with the money that SHOWED in his account. 3 days later he got onto his online banking, he was $1100 in the negative!! Cops showed up that day and asked him a bunch of questions, but he didn’t go to jail.. Just is responsible for paying the money back that the faulty check was worth..

Yeah well do not move to philly they will lock you up for taking the check rather you knew or not, its brutal if you ask me this is small time crook stuff, i would never do something like this nor would I let someone do this to me again.

sorry to hear about what happend to you. one suggestion for you; you have the longest sentences I have ever read. It is not a bad thing to put in a few more periods. It would definitely be easier to read.

This gyisrael guy has got it all wrong. Creator has nothing to do with this situation. It has to do with someone who is a crook! The fellow who sent the check. Quit rationalizing away the blame. Some people are scammers. The blame belongs on the crook. Accept this fact, and we can be wary of scam checks. Gyisrael’s thinking is why the majority of people no longer go to church.
I remember hearing about his arrest on Clark Howard’s radio show.

Bad things happen to good people.A lesson learned. Thank God for allowing you to get through this.The key word is “through”. Yes God has a way of getting your attention.Now that he has it make the nessesary changes in your life.He allows things to happen to us so we can learn from it.It was more than just that check, there was another lesson to be learned.dmobile,Stand on “Who You Are”"You Are The Child Of The Most High God”.
