Surfing the internet is like Driving a car, the way you protect yourself from accident is the way you have to protect yourself when you are surfing the internet. Got it!
When driving your car the Road Marshal says “fasten your seat belt when you drive” and while surfing the internet Austine the Technologist will say ”
- Put security on your wireless connection
- Install an anti-Virus and anti-Spyware on your Laptop or Desktop
- Don”t use your primary emails on sites that require you to register
- Your passwords must be different on different site when you are registering
- Before starting a purchase, make sure that the lock icon is on the bottom right of your screen indicating a secure SSL connection is there
- Make sure you did not access any financial or confidential sites over a public wireless connection
- When in doubt of a site, don’t shop there
- Don’t ever reply to unsolicited emails
- Your personal information in online postings and personal web pages should be minimal
- Don’t ever give out your social security number online
Forewarned is forearmed!
Be observant now or pay the price of negligence!
