The Best Website in The World and Other Odd Google Searches

Search Engines

Did you know that at the time of writing this article, there have been 329,000,000 searches made in Google for “the best website in the world”? What is it with people surfing the internet for utter rubbish?

In an effort to write articles that would attract lots of visitors, to earn me some meagre pennies from the odd click here and there, or indeed from people who are genuinely interested and have searched out my particular article to read, I decided to look for some inspiration by typing questions into Google’s websearch window and finding out just how many people searched for the same thing.

It’s a great source of inspiration.  When you start typing your question, for instance, “What is the biggest…”, you get all manner of suggestions below your typing, along with the number of times that search has been made.

You should try it, it can be fascinating, but until you do, here are some of the results I found when starting to type various questions or titles:

“The Best Website in the World…”

329,000,000

“How do I become famous”

83,000,000

“What is the biggest word in the world”

164,000,000

“When did Michael Jackson turn white”

1,350,000,000

“What is the smallest country in the world”

96,000,000

“How can I enlarge my pines” (No, that’s really NOT a spelling mistake…..!…..and is inspired by my ever increasing junk mail……)

232,000

“How can I make my period come sooner”

293,000,000

“Get me a cool job”

547,000,000

“What is the speed of light”  Those that have read my article will now know why I wrote it :)

102,000,000

“How did Michael Jackson turn white”

1,490,000,000  (I’m really going to have to write a Michael Jackson article or two….)

“What is the time”

823,000,000  (What happened to looking in the bottom right of your screen?)

……and the last one, because I know you’re bored now…….

“Is there a God”

114,000,000……interestingly….”Is there a new Iphone coming out in 2009″ got double that at 234,000,000….and to think that John Lennon got chastised for saying the Beatles were more popular than God….?
