Keyword Relevancy, means how relevant your keywords are to your page content, as well as you business/service. You want your Keywords to reflect what the customer/visitor is searching for when they do a search for a product or service you provide. There is contradiction on what people believe that the ratio of keywords per page.

Keyword Relevancy, means how relevant your keywords are to your page content, as well as you business/service.  You want your Keywords to reflect what the customer/visitor is searching for when they do a search for a product or service you provide. There is contradiction on what people believe  that the ratio of keywords per page.

I will be honest that I have some of my pages ranking very high and very fast and I don’t really focus to much on the ratio. I add in my keywords a few times, making sure to rephrase my keyword in the content, I do not just use the same term over and over. (With a little thought you can find other ways to describe your term in a way that is relevant to it’s meaning.)

I think what I would consider to be one of the most important thing, and that is to give each product or service their own page, this way each service/ product can be show cased with it’s own description and keywords. On problem I see when I search and review other sites, is that they list alot of products or services on the first page.

Well if you know about keywords you know you only have so many characters that you can use. So these limited opportunities to use the phrases that lookers are searching by are limited if you are going to try to include all of the products that you have on one page. A great way for the crawlers to easily find out about what your site consists of is to have a sitemap located on the home page.

Be careful not to use the same word over and over, and don’t just through your keywords and phrases anywhere in the content in order to have alot of them. Too many keywords, or the same word over and over is looked upon by crawlers as spam and can lead to going down in the rankings.

Make the words flow with the content, you want to remember to keep the audiences attention. You don’t want to come across as a late night infomercial. Use your keywords only in places that flow. Don’t just through your keywords anywhere. A great way is to write what you wan to say, and then find where you can put your keywords and phrases in your rewritten content. Then rewrite it to do just that.

An important factor to remember in thoughts of SEO is that you should not try to cheat the system. Read up on Black Hat SEO **  to learn more of what not to do regarding “keywords”.

But to stick on this topic and not get caught in writing about Black Hat SEO, I am going to focus on he title of this  “keyword relevancy”, meaning, keep your keywords relevant to your site.

So a quick over view:

  • consider what phrases are being search,
  • Use on-line tools
  • Make a list of the keywords
  • Separate you products an/or services to independent pages
  • Write your content using as many keywords and phrases as you can
  • Keep the content natural (stay away from keyword stuffing)
  • As you add services/products remember to update your keywords.

It may seem like a little work, but it is not only worth it, it is necessary if you are going to go up in the rankings organically. ( Meaning not using pay per click)
