How to Compete in Your Niche.
Are you worried that you won’t be able to compete in your niche and build a successful business online? Are you looking for ways to stand out from the crowd? Is this holding you back from deciding on the right niche for your business and getting started? Then read on and I’ll share some tips on how you can answer these questions.
One of your first considerations should be to determine if you have narrowed down your niche far enough so that you stand a chance of competing successfully. In fact if you narrow down enough you may not really have any competition at all. Do be wary of this however as this could be a sign that there is no money to made in that particular micro-niche. The more specialised the better generally but it is a balancing act to minimise competition and still be targeting a large enough group to generate the income you desire.
That said, here’s a strategy you can employ to design your business so that you stand out from the crowd and become a leader in your niche market. First of all you need to identify the top 5 leaders in your niche. Assuming you are knowledgeable about your niche you may already be well aware of who they are. If not, try a Google search and look at the top organic listings. You might also check out the bestsellers in your category on Amazon or Clickbank.
Now you need to study and analyse what they offer and how they market their products and services. To do this properly you will need to actually purchase their products because until you get past that first level of marketing you probably won’t be able to really see their overall strategy. Most internet businesses don’t expect to make money on the first purchase but rather on the upsells.
Make a note of what you like and find useful and then you can combine all these good points into what you have to offer. It can be especially useful to read any testimonials or comments on their sites to see what their customers like best about what they have to offer. To really stand out from the crowd look for those things they don’t do well or don’t do at all, the gaps so to speak. This is where your real opportunity to be unique in your niche will come from.
