Page Rank is said to be an algorithm based on link analysis. The better the page rank of a site the better are your chances of your pages being found and read. There is a great free tool called “Parameter” that you can download very quickly to your computer that can give you the page rank of each site that you enter into the gadget.
(1) Download the free software from here: Parameter
(2) Manually enter a url in the url slot and click “add.” Repeat this until you have a list of sites.
(3) Click the green arrow at the top (No, not the one from Smallville).
(4) After you get the page rank of each site, click the letters “PR” on the top right hand side to toggle the data between ascending and descending order. You can also click the word “url” on the left to get an alphabetical listing of the sites that you entered.
Analysis:
The greater the number out of ten the better the page rank of the site is. For instance, page360.net has a page rank of 1 out of 10, while google.com has a perfect 10 out of 10 since it is the #1 site on the net. Facebook.com also has a page rank of 10 since it is the second most popular site on the net. For your viewing pleasure I put in a variety of sites so that you can compare the different page ranks: writing sites, bookmarking sites and a search engine like google.com. All the data is based on the software mentioned above as of February 7, 2011.
