Being listed on Google, the highest used search engine in the world, is very important.
Being listed on google means being connected to a main component of the Internet. This search engine will rank your website on the information of a couple things. It may be based on tags, amount of information in your site, and most important, how successful your site is. If a website gets 1,000 clicks a day, it will be ranked higher then that other site with 5 clicks a day. Having your website posted on other websites is very important. Google will crawl that URL and help your rankings. Sometimes, your site may be popular, but never reach the search engines. In this case, you need to do the work of adding your site.
Adding your website is a very easy process. Go to google, type in “add URL to google”, click the first link, and then copy and paste your site URL. It is important to give some nice comments about your site. They do not promise it will be on google the next day, they don’t even promise it will ever be there ever! Sometimes, they add it and sometimes they don’t, but it will take a couple of weeks. You may also want to add your site to other search engines. I would not bother wasting any money. Type in free URL submission on google and you will get many free sites that just require your e-mail. This sites take 4-8 weeks to have an effect. This is a great long-term effect.
The main goal is to make sure your sites are submitted and spread over the internet. Message boards are great places to post your website. Try and interest new viewers as well as keeping the old. The right keywords may be the difference between being ranked #1 on google or being on page 100. There are many websites that are there to help you, use them to there full advantage.
