How Search Engines Find Your Articles Through Optimal Keyword Density

Many writers write online for many reasons, and among these reasons, to earn passive or residual income always stand out. This is the reason why there are many articles online that provide tips, advice, tweaks, suggestions, testimonies on how to earn a substantial income despite the pittance of earnings that a writer could get.

My more or less two year experience of writing online provided me with the following insight on search engine optimization which I believe would work in any online writing site. This should also work for anyone striving to increase their page views.

The tip I present here was derived from analysis of statistics, in terms of page views, that I have had in my articles, plus, the learnings I derived from forums on how to improve on website traffic. Observing this rule undoubtedly increased traffic to my articles, although admittedly I need to devote extra effort to follow this simple but working tweak. No pain, no gain.

Observe proper SEO rules

How do you observe proper SEO rules. SEO means ’search engine optimization’. How do you optimize your articles in such a way that search engines will find it? Simple, just write keywords (tags here) that match your content. One or two keywords seem to be optimal.

How is this done when you try to publish to sites like here in Triond? This is done by repeating words in your content at least 1 to 5% of the total words in your content.

Use Textalyzer

How will you be able to know that? You need not count the words yourself. You can use a free keyword analyzer like Textalyzer. This tool shows you which keywords are important in your content and at what percentage it occurs in your composition. Say, your keyword is ‘writing‘ and of course you are writing about writing.

So what you should do is to copy your whole content and paste it to the box in the Textalyzer. Then, click ‘Analyze the text‘ button at the left, bottom portion of the box. The page will scroll and provide you a series of words to choose from. Since you want your ‘writing‘ keyword to appear 1 to 5% in your content, look for the word in the series of words presented and see how much you got. If say, it occurred 7 times and you got 0.8% keyword density, that means you have to add more of the word ‘writing‘ in your content. When this is done, recopy the whole thing and paste again in Textalyzer. If you got the percentage that you want, i.e., between 1% and 5%, copy other words with equal or greater percentage and paste or type them in your tags box. I find pasting 10 keywords optimal.

Initial Salvo of Views

When you publish your article, you will get an initial salvo of views but this normally will die down after about three days. This is now the time where your SEO tweak should work. You are no longer ‘forcing’ others to view your work through reciprocation of comments but rely more on your articles ability to attract the search engines.

Search Engines

But how will the search engines find your article? The search engines will easily find your article, IF, in addition to having the correct density, you should include your major (I mean those with highest density) keywords in your Title and Description of content. At least two keywords should match in your 1) title, 2) description, and 3) content proper.

One word of caution though: “Don’t overuse your keyword” such that it looks funny or awkward to read. I saw one article written like that. Obviously, the author is trying to give his keyword a very high density. The word is repeated two or three times in a sentence for almost every sentence written. That’s tantamount to spamming the search engines.

When such things happen, the search engines will rank your article low, and searchers could not find your articles whenever they look for information about your topic. Just write smoothly and make the words flow like the waters in a river that find its way into the sea.

Try This Tip

Try this tip and you will surely enjoy the benefits of taking time reading this article and putting your learning into action. Remember, OPTIMIZE, not MAXIMIZE your keyword density. I took time to write this tip here in Triond because it is here in Triond that I widened my horizon in online writing.

And hey! One of my articles has been picking up a lot of traffic for the last 12 days. And all of these comes from a search engine. And this averages 279 pages every day. Type ‘salary grade of government employees‘ (without the quotes) in Yahoo search box and you will see my article in Socyberty in the first page (now it’s in the no.1 rank).
