Today , Google celebrates the bar code ! As far as we can tell , Google’s logo is a bar code saying : “Google” .

Bernard Silver and Norman Joseph Woodland invented the bar code as students at  Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia . Their first working system used ultraviolet ink, but this proved to fade and was fairly expensive. Woodland’s inspiration came from the Morse Code .

Their bar code proved to be successful and now it is used world-wide .
