Recently I tried an interesting experience, I bookmarked my latest 25 Triond articles to some major networks such as Delicious, Mister Wong, Netvouz, A1 Webmarks and some others. See the results here.
Here is the list:
Delicious
Diigo
Mr Wong
Spurl.net
Netvouz
Faves
Buddymarks
A1 webmarks
The process was very simple, I added an article to Delicious using the Firefox add on just with the CRTL + D shortcut and added the tags I thought they were related. To all the other ones I used the Import feature making all my delicious tags available to the other networks too. I need also to say I made a good profile on each network with my best personal photo and in some I joined groups and made a few friends.
What was the result? According to Triond traffic numbers, I haven’t got a single visitor from any of those sites… It’s sad but real, all that bookmarking work, all that profile work, that incredible list of sites generated no revenue for me, nor it will generate for you.
Are those networks that bad? For some people they might work fine but they are one in a million, just like winning the lottery.
Should you spend your time sending your articles (and other blogs you might have) to these networks above? I would say no. Some of them might not work a year from now. These networks are featured in some respectable services such as “Share This” you can see in all Triond articles, but they simply do not work for most of writers (or bloggers or webmasters), they are just another brick in the wall.
Stumble Upon continues to be my number one source of Triond traffic sending me traffic almost forever.
My next article will be about traffic from these networks:
Mixx
Digg
Newsvine
Propeller.com
Slashdot.org
Fark
Yahoo buzz
Reddit

Thanks – you just saved me some work, as I was considering bookmarking many of my articles this way.

Hey, interesting stuff here. I’m so glad I haven’t been wasting my time (I haven’t done much about bookmarking my stuff) My stats show me that getting a topic that lots of people want an answer for, and using SEO effectively is the way to get traffic. I have an article that gets far more traffic than anything else I have ever written, and I have barely done a thing to promote it.
I’ve used Twitter and Facebook on some of my articles with some results, but not much. SEO gets people to your work if you have the stuff and Google has put you on page one.
So my advice to others? Get your article on Google’s first page! Easy? Well…

Thanks for sharing your experience from these sites. Right now, redgage and shetoldme adds to my Trionds traffic. Send me a private message for my referral links or if you decide to register directly, that would be fine with me. I am looking forward to read your next post.
